Internet Explorer 7.0 help
I'm hoping some on CP will be able to help me on this as i've tried going to the online support on microsoft site but the only way to contact through them is to call them and they want to charge a ridiculous amount to help that i can't afford nor am I willing to pay that much for a malfunction of their product. I need some help on some settings for internet explorer. I usually keep the amount of disk space for temporary files to be stored at 1024 to insure that if i'm logged into a site the cookie doesn't get deleted if the advertisements start to bog down the free space, but lately i've been noticing that when i start internet explorer that will be at 1024 but the moment i go to another site it goes down to the minimum of 252 and it causes a huge pain in the rear because some of the sites i use then sign me out cause the cookies been deleted and i have to sign back in. I'm wondering if anyone knows how i can get so it stops dropping to 252.
Thanks in advance.

Cookies and Temporary Internet files are managed completely separately and do not interfere with each other. Cookies are not stored in your temporary internet folder so what you are doing actually has no effect on cookies, I don't know why you would think so. For XP they go into C:\Documents and Settings\[ your account name ]\Cookies and in Vista, they are in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Co okies
The only advice I can really give to you is to swith to Opera or Firefox. IE 7.0 is a shoddy program and I've learned with IE 7.0 and Vista that there are serious bugs that are still not worked out.

If you are looking to upguage your IE7 experience, I suggest downloading IE7Pro.
It probably isnt as good as Firefox 1.5 but at least you are safe in the knowledge you arent supporting some granola eating software junkie
It has addblock (although not as nice to use as Ff) plugins for Accuweather etc.

riight then.
Get Firefox. IE7 is an upgrade from IE6 but it's still a substandard browser that lacks many features.
For instance, Firefox handles session cookies. You can clear out all cookies every time you shut down the browser, with exceptions for your favourite sites (such as CP). This helps reduce the garbage stored on your computer and reduces the amount of advertising tracking that goes on.
In my experience, corporate programmers are far worse then open source developers, especially in how they take liberties with your system. Microsoft is no exception to this.
Plus, it can be set to accept cookies from the site you are browsing, rather then blindly accepting all third party cookies.
Edit: Firefox is up to version 2.0.0.11 now. Might want to check it out if your last experience was with 1.5

2 has memory leak problems, 1.5 is the most stable version IMO. Until the Memory leak problems are fixed, I wont move past 1.5

True enough. Although I personally have never seen Firefox climb higher then 100mB. I have seen it have issues with the Adobe Flash plugin consuming 80% of my processor whenever there was a flash app on the page.

I use nothing but Firefox. Wouldn't even consider using Internet Explorer. Way behind the times -- features on Firefox constantly being upgraded. No comparison whatsoever!!!

I use firefox at home, and when I am at school I get really mad when the computer doesn't have firefox- IE7 is a pain in my butt.
I like firefox so much that I convinced them to let me put it on my computer at work.
switch to firefox, it's just way better.

Everytime that my firefox tries to update, I get an error aborting the update and telling me that there's a problem with my chrome registration.
What the heck does that mean?

I use IE 7 and never seem to have any problems with it.

Sounds like a plug-in error. Try removing all plug-ins and updating again.
If that doesn't work... try deleting the Mozilla folder in your Application Data folder (on XP is under "\Documents & Settings\User\Application Data\Mozilla", Vista its in the \User folder).
To be honest, I've been having a heck of a lot of problems with Firefox recently. They have all been crashes due to some plug-ins so I know it's not the browser itself at fault... but still. Getting annoying.

That's what i originally thought but couldn't find another explaination of why i was getting signed out of some accounts after a couple minutes. If it continues to keep doing it today i'll probably download firefox and hope for better results. Thanks for your help
