Default So....staff party last night...

Got Really drunk.

like...REALLY drunk.

So much so, that I passed out and EMS responded because someone called. By the time they got there, I was partially coherant. So, they took my licence, asked me some questions (where was i, where do i live, birthday). Then the paramedic asked me if I wanted their help, to which I responded "no". He was like "ok" then they left.

Now, the question is...am I going to get a bill from them? I wasn't transported anywhere, they didn't really do anything to me to help me out. Anyone know?

I'd guess it's your employer's problem.

That is fantastic.

Did you pop off to the coatroom for a quick fumble with one of the office gals by chance?

Lampshade on the head maybe?

Ass photocopies on the cubicle walls on Monday?

Sounds like a good party. I agree with Troutman: it's their fault for letting it get to that point. Workplace safety and all.

I already have a reputation at my work for being the drunk guy...I had to uphold it. It was mostly my fault with alot of pregaming.

I just don't know if they'd send out a bill for an ambulance I never called and they didn't do anything for me.

Great stuff!

I don't know about Canada, but in the states, it is usually, no transport/refusal of service, no bill. The response is paid through local taxes.

FYI: When I was volunteering with a local Fire Department, the patient would be charged for transport to the hospital if he/she was placed on the stretcher and them laoded in. If the patient got themselves in to the ambulance, we could not charge them for transport.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about a couple hundred dollar EMS bill so much as potential fallout. "Company Drunk with that reputation" or not, employers can be pretty sticky about going to that extreme at a company party these days.
Even if its not immediately coming back at you, people will have that image of you, so drunk that paramedics have to be called. Not something to put on your resume.
Anyways, if it was me, I'd attempt to be apologetic on Monday, and try to avoid looking a high five from the boss for your performance.

Although if you get a high five from the boss for your performance you'll be golden.

That and the waste of tax dollars with EMS responding to a drunk incident. Hopefully someone who really needed EMS wasn't left to wait longer because of this event.

Company drunk is not a label i'd want or be proud of.

It's not a waste of money if it was alcohol poisoning or krazycanuck easily choking to death on vomit, etc. EMS can't pick and choose.

Nope, as long as you didn't take the ambulance ride. I got the ambulance call a couple years ago, but I guess I was somehow ok enough that they let me just stay with my friends. (I was in res, you know how it goes)

If you did take the ambulance ride, its $300.

I understand that, and in no way was I trying to dismiss what happened to him. I'm glad everything came out okay.

This was a situation that could have been prevented with responsible drinking.

The best was when a lady was sick of waiting in the ER waiting room for so long that she left. She went across the street and called an ambulance. They took her back to the hospital, she was triaged, and they stuck her back in the waiting room, gave her a $300 bill, and she was bumped to the back of the line.

haha.

thats what you get for going to hospital for a cough.

Killjoy, no offense but 90% of good stories involve irresponsible drinking.

Been down that road a few times where I made a total fool out of myself. Some might call it funny - for me it was embarrassing. That and the reputation I got labeled with
