Default Hossa No Longer a Hawk!

The Sharks have been hungry for awhile but with this deal, they shouldn't be hungry again for a long time...hopefully....but probably not. Marian Hossa, one of the best RW's in the game today, was acquired a short time ago giving the Sharks a legitimate top scoring line as he will be put alongside Ray Whitney and either Alexei Yashin or Maxim Afinogenov.

Going the other way is nothing short of the future of a team. Zach Parise is having an amazing season in the NHL this year and is currently on pace to outscore Hossa himself! At 22 years old, he was someone we were hoping to build around ourselves, but with Hossa we think we have someone who is guaranteed to be a top level talent for a good amount of years still as he's only 28 now.

Not only did we have to give up a top young talent like Parise though, we also lost great sim scorer Darcy Tucker, but that's not of nearly as much concern as we see him close to being on the downside of his career. Still a big loss for this season.

Breaks down as:

To Chi:
Zach Parise LW, 22y 77ov
Darcy Tucker RW, 32y 77ov
Salary coverage for 2 years

To SJ:
Marian Hossa RW, 28y 82ov
3rd round pick (2009)

Obviously it was a steep price to pay, but when you're getting Marian Hossa you have to give up a lot and we think this is within reason. We're just happy to have gotten this deal done!

That's right the Hawks have traded a member of their first line. We couldn't refuse the package as we believe Parise will be as good as Hossa next year. This also allows us to use Cheechoo more effectively as a first line scorer and gives us insurance for when we lose Forsberg at C.

The lines will now be:
Parise-Forsberg-Cheechoo
Carter-Ribeiro-Tucker

But the dealing is not done...

Interesting deal! Parise's a great young player but I don't think will ever be as prolific as Hossa is, who is a top 10 scorer in the NHL to me. Hawks get some solid depth right now though and two 77 players for Hossa is a nice return.

I think Parise is a young stud in the nhl but I doubt he will reach Hossas level though he should bump up a couple points to 79-80. It is a solid return for Hossa but to get a star like that it doesnt come at a cheap price. Tucker is struggling this year but who on the leafs isnt, maybe he can turn it up a bit and keep his rating next season.

Pretty even... if anything I'd give the edge to the Hawks. Hossa is great and traditionally good in the sim, but Parise is one of the best young players in the game and Tucker has really solid ratings for this season. Tough to trade Hossa and SJ gets a great player here, but it's a good return for CHI.

I like it both ways. Hossa is the best player but Parise and Tucker for him is a great return. Parise will be a 79 ov type player next season and has a great career ahead of him. Good deal both ways.

Yeah this deal helps both teams I think, gives the Sharks a star and gives the Hawks a great young player in Parise and another top 6 forward.
