Redskins safety Sean Taylor shot in Florida, passes away
Long time thug and you could almost see this coming at some point.

Yikes...the NFL is having a lot of this type of incident occur. No doubt this guys past is less than rosy...you wonder if it was a pre-meditated incident, or if it is in fact a robbery as the artical suggests. More tragedy for the NFL.

'Robbery' in the sense that after shooting him the suspects made off with some of his stuff. He was also 'robbed' earlier in his career too. It would be naive to suggest that random criminals staked out his house on two seperate occasions for the purpose of robbery.

Many media outlets here in the States are reporting his house was broken in to eight days ago as well. No one was home at the time, and the trespassers allegedly left a knife on his nightstand or pillow, depending on the report.
He is in a coma, (possibly medically induced) and doctors are concerned about loss of brain function.

Allegedly he flat-lined twice during his hours in surgery....and he was in Florida to get a second opinion on his knee and to inspect his home after the inital break-in.

Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, the lawyer said.

He keeps a machete for protection?

Unfortunate and brutal as he was a very talented guy, seemed like a targeted crime as he was broken into just the week before. Luckily his girlfriend and one year old daughter were unharmed, RIP.

Wow second NFL player murdered within the calender year. Have to feel for his girl friend and one year old son. Many on the Skins claim that he had changed a lot since becoming a father. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that he was able to escape his past. Another tragic day for the NFL.

You don't?
Well he obvisiously was a "gangster" at one point in his life. You can take him out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of him.
Very sad that he died. I hope the best for his family!

I heard on the big show yesterday that he was shot in the groin? Boomer did not want to speculate but came 5 seconds short of saying that perhaps Taylor was "playing the field" and it caught up with him.
Sad incident but with his history it is not surprising.

When I remove the blade that I keep in my boot from its sheath I cannot return it until it has split blooood.
Sorry. That was in really bad taste owing to the passing of Sean Taylor...

A scathing commentary on the tragic death of Sean Taylor. This reporter blames hip-hop culture.
Someone who loved Sean Taylor is crying right now. The life they knew has been destroyed, an 18-month-old baby lost her father, and, if you're a black man living in America, you've been reminded once again that your life is in constant jeopardy of violent death.

Why is it always blamed on music or what is on TV? People should really start looking at the way they were raised by their parents...
Police are now saying that is was a "random" robbery...are you kidding me? Two "random" robberies in a few weeks....riiiight. Just like their were no clues to the Tupac and Biggie shootings

While I don't think music caused this, it certainly doesn't help that hip-hop glorifies all this "gangsta" crap.

He was not allowed to posess a firearm due to a previous incident which involved a firearm. (see: Tank Johnson) So I guess a machete is the next logical choice...
A friend of mine works with a guy whose son is an athletic trainer for the Redskins (I know its quite a reach, like 4th hand info.) He said some within the Redskins organization believe it was a family member.
Antrel Rolle does not buy the burglary premise either:
