Default Where to buy a Keg in Calgary?

I honestly have no idea and Google has failed me so I have to resort to the almighty CP Off Topic forum. Only stuff I can find on Google is for the States....

Where would one go in Calgary to buy a keg of beer for a Christmas/End of Class party? And how much would one set you back? How many people (on average) does one keg "feed"?

A liquor store? Don't you just order them there and then put a deposit on the tap?

I've bought one from Crowfoot Liquor before up in (you guessed it) Crowfoot.

I find the keg is really hit an miss. You have a good beer drinking crowd, then i'll go no problem... you mix in some ladies who like the coolers or rum and cokes, or you just don't get the number you expected.. well, you end up with left over flat beer... and that is a crying shame against all things that are good in this world.

What really puzzles me is why you are worrying more about the keg than the hookers and blow?

Isn't a keg ~$200? And since it is winter, you can leave it on the back deck instead of spending andother $30 on ice and a tub... Score!

The Liquor Box on Crowchild and 16th NW sells emm too. They also do pony-kegs, if you're a bit worried about numbers.

Beer Land is by far the best for kegs in Calgary. It is down by the 'ol Cecil Hotel. Also, OK Liquor on McLeod and around 40th SW is great for cheap kegs as well.

Thats the trade-off. You have to bring your shank and bullet proof vest to fend off all the hobos.

Is Beer Land the place where you bring your own empty 2 or 4 litre jugs and have them filled? That's gross.

I have no idea what your talking about, that sounds illegal and I have never heard of it.

Beerland is a larger liquor store, and they go through a lot of kegs. So they are easily available, and come in a large variety of brews.

Oh, and there is nothing wrong with day old keg, just tastes a little off (still gets ya drunk!)

Back in the day they used to sell them at the hotel at Glenmore and Ogden Rd. (Glenmore Inn IIRC)

They also sell "pigs" which are essentially mini-kegs.

The beer is great as well, try the IPA.

Like mentioned Crowfoot liquor store has both the full size and half size kegs for sale.
There is another liquor store in Brentwood near the Pizza Hut that sells full size Kokanee kegs.
If I remember correctly, a half keg is around $125 full size a bit less than double, $30 deposit, and around $10 to rent the tap if you don't have one.
A full keg contains around 165 beers and a half keg, well half that.

Wildrose brewhouse by the farmers market on the currie barracks. 200 bucks a keg. 200 bucks (cash) deposit - refundable when you bring back your tap and keg. Good beer - for the going rate. I did teh keg thing from these guys for halloween. Prices are approx. the same across the city.

Enjoy - don;t drink and drive

I remember brewster's being a cheap place to get one and lots of choices in sizes and beers. But that info is like 10 years old.

Is that Alberta Brewers Agents outlet still open in the Franklin Industrial Park in the NE? They used to do retail sales to the public and they always had the cheapest prices I could find for any beer. I haven't been by there for years so I don't know if they're still operating or not ... I'm pretty sure they were still open after privatization went into effect though.
