I believe in the Pony Power

Francis has been known to be wrong on a lot of fronts but wouldn't this be great if it ended up to be true.
From the article:
Make no mistake, Henry Burris wants to come back to Calgary. And thanks, in large part, to past-president Ron Rooke, it should -- and very likely will -- come to pass this week.

A stopped clock is right twice a day, Francis could be right this time.
Roughies have 2, count 'em, 2 days to sign Burris, and I'm thinking CGY will pony up the cash that he wants (and other FAs too). Burris is definately an upgrade over old man Khari and his shoulder...get Burris (if it happens, which is a 50-50 shot right now) a couple more WRs and some solid OLinemen and we're good...and I can see that happening.
Reports have been that Burris wants to stay in Sask (as stated in the Francis article), but I think that's being classy so that if he does, in fact, stay there, he won't have alienated fans on his ass the entire time.

Well I'll believe it when I see it... Francis is right about things in the CFL about as many times as Marty York.
That being said, I think it would be great to get Burris here, tell Sask and that P.I.M.P. Shivers to go ##### themselves; they can have Greene and sign Crandell as his back-up: two QBs who will never amount to anything!

This is great great news if in fact it happens.
Burris is a game breaker and with the right recieving core and O-Line Calgary could be a force next year.
There defence is already among the best in the league, and I feel that we already have a decent QB in Jones.
BUT, a combo of Burris and Jones would be pretty crazy.
Any chance that Moore will also come back to Calgary?

I'm not putting all my eggs in the Burris basket.
Showed signs here [6] years ago, but not enough to crack the lineup.
A half decent year the next with Sask (but still a lot if interceptions), then goes down and throws no passes in GB the next year, then, 51 in total the following year (which pro Qb hasn't played for the Bears?).
Then back as a prodigal son, where he only got in last year thanks to Greene going down first game.
And the article says we're going to pay him what a former league MVP and the most winningest Qb from 2001-2003 makes?
All i am saying is that I don't Burris is the savouir, or is Karahi..I think their about equal, and although Jones is older, he also has had years of proven CFL success, wheras Burris hasn't.
But any way to screw Sask is fine with me.

Moore's old and damaged. Not worth the money he's demanding from Sask right now. If he takes a paycut and limited playing time, he'd be ok...but I won't be weeping if he doesn't come back here.

From sources that i have heard over the week on diffrent shows it's not about Money and Burris is committed to resiging with Regina. A Calgary signing in my mind is a pipedream Burris is committed to the Riders they are a close knit team.

If it's not about money, what's taking so long? Long term deal maybe???

Close knit in the way that the GM and some players publicly and and openly singled out and criticizes the team's career long kicker after a missed kick?

Don't matter - buy 'em anyways! Support your (new) local CFL team!!!
I think the schedule comes out within the month? Don't rely on that though if it's important.

After all the insults & verbal shots that Roy Shivers & Nate Davis took at the Stamps expense last season, it'll be great to stick it to both of them by taking their starting qb.

Burris is just saying all the right things. In my view there is no way he resigns with the Riders. After all he is a UFA as of tomorrow night.

I have heard some rumblings that the Esks might look at Crandell as their backup this year. Hendricks wasn't going to make it and they would like a vet over Jason Johnson at this point in time.

I believe Burris when he says he wants to resign with the Riders however, if Calgary comes up with a whack of dough more than the Riders, Burris has a family to look after too so I think he's interested in seeing what Calgary would offer him... Hey, that's what free agency is all about and with short football careers, makes sense for him to wait for a bit here... And I think that's what Shivers is waiting for too - doesn't want to offer too much until he sees what Calgary is offering - then it's up to him and the Riders if they want to match it...should be interesting...

I'm curious as to how free agency works. Does each team only get to make one offer to a free agent? Do teams get to know what another team offered?

Same as other leagues - teams make offers, ie. calgary makes Burris an offer, he can accept, or go to Sask and say "Cal offered me this, what can you do?" and go back and forth in a bidding war until one side caves and he signs.

I don't see the big deal about Burris. He makes alot of mistakes, in my view he's another Marcus Crandell but a bit better.

Actually, it doesn't even matter to me if they do or don't sign Burris. Once they re-signed Grace, I was happy. I was just hoping to see more weekend games and not those Friday nighters, or middle of the week games just because of my working hours.
Anyway, I figure I'll take care of this "business" within 2 or 3 weeks and I'll see you at the games! Well, maybe, I have a feeling there's gonna be some big crowds this summer.

don't count on too many weekend games. TSN has the CFL by the curlies w/ Thursday and Friday night football during the summer (makes sense - ppl going away on the weekends, best to capitalize on them when they're in town). Weekened games don't happen until around Labour Day
