Anyone here from New Zealand?
Hey guys,
I'm traveling to Christchurch New Zealand tomorrow and staying for a few days. I don't suppose anyone is from there or has been there, if so, can you recommend any good pubs? tourist attractions?
Any help is appreciated

I know you were/are looking for something with a bit more of a personal touch, but I find this website useful when researching travel destinations.

Muta isn't from New Zealand, but he and I did live there. To be fair though, we didn't live in Christchurch, we stayed in Auckland.
This is the general consensus:
Auckland = Vancouver
Wellington = Ottawa
Christchurch = Regina
So you can see why we chose Auckland to live and nowhere else!! haha...

A buddy of mine is over there in Auckland now. If you see a pudgy, scruffy guy, who kinda looks like a child rapist, wearing a Senator's jersey wandering the streets tell Jesse I said hello!

Yeah, sorry SouloftheFlame, I lived in Auckland and never had a chance to make it down to the South Island. Wish I did though...

Well I have been to the South Island, but only Nelson/the northern parts, so I am of no help either. My friend went to uni in Christchurch so if I see her online I'll ask her a few things.
As for Wellington = Ottawa, I don't see that comparison at all except that it is the capital. Wellington seemed to me to be a lot like Victoria, but even better. I would love to live in Wellington, fantastic city.

Physically, it looks like Victoria, I agree. Economically, it is the same thing as Ottawa, being a government capital. The job market there is small business and government jobs.

Ok,
I've just returned. Christchurch is a very cool city, reminded me a lot of Halifax Nova Scotia. A total pub town with excellent night life and lotsa good looking ladies. It's a million times better than Regina!
