SI - Why Shouldn't The Pats Pour It On?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...gon/index.html

We can't work up a decent amount of outrage over the way the Pats are rubbing other teams' noses in it, as they did in their 56-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. Truth be told, we're actually kind of enjoying it.

The Patriots are so amazing to behold, though, so nearly flawless, that we have to forgive them their excesses. We can't hate them, because they're beautiful.

The Pats' games seem less like competitions than performances, or maybe even lab experiments set up to determine just how far superior one NFL team can be to another.

Troutman, I think there's a lot to be said about your reason #3. I think that's a big reason they play the way they do and hasn't been talked about at all in the media really. Well done.

I really thought Green Bay was going to get a touchdown to end the 1st half the way they quickly moved downfield but hey the field goal gives them an eight point lead.

I don't see the Lions winning this one especially with the dropped balls by their receivers.

Ugh, Kitna's scaring the crap out of me the way he keeps looking Calvin Johnson's way, thank God nothing's really panned out so far. I didnt start CJ this week and if he lights it up I'm gonna be pissed. Especially because I have the Green Bay D.

On a non-fantasy note, I can't believe what a quickstart offence the Packers have. The Lions basically dominate that entire first quarter, slowing it down and keeping it on the ground. The Packers get ONE shot and bang, TD. Then they get another shot and bang, TD again. Amazing.

Yep and now stretching it out with another TD.

For the amount of time GB has actually had the ball I wouldn't be suprised if it was DET 28-GB 12, but nope they are finding a way to do it. Farve is looking like circa 1997.

I would be ---consider the amount of time Kitna has spend on his butt.

LOL wasn't that hilarious. Lions call a timeout that nullifies an INT.

I meant if you just looked at possession time. GB has been the better team on both sides of the ball that is for sure!

I was really hoping Kitna would get to his 10 wins. He got ragged on so much by the media for making that comment. I like when athletes are confident and speak their minds rather than a stupid cliche.

Assuming he loses today that would make DET 6-5, so they would need 4 wins in the next 5 weeks:

@ MIN
DAL
@ SD
KC
@GB

Not looking good for him right now to keep that promise.

Favre sets a GB record with 20 completions in a row. Breaks the old record of 18. GB totally owns Detroit right now.

Well in the first half Johnson basically singled handedly killed the Lions chances so you were lucky then. However, he did just catch a TD so perhaps he will try to make up for it now that it looks like the game is over.

Finally a year that I thought Detroit might have a shot at winning and they come out and play like absolute garbage. The Defense was good early but too much inefficiency from the offense didn't help an already suspect defense out too much early on.

Their schedule left has two game they should win (KC and MIN), two games they have a shot at (GB and SD) and one sure loss (DAL). Even in the crappy NFC the play-offs might now be a problem for the Lions.

Yeah I just saw that. Oh well, at least I also started Jennings, who already has 2TD's(too bad I'm up against a guy this week who has Favre as his QB, and Driver at WR). I essentially started Dwayne Bowe instead of Calvin Johnson, so as long as he puts up similar #'s to CJ it's all good.

Lions slowly clawing their way back. 34-26 Packers with 6 and half minutes left in the 4th.

That was a weak pass interference call...the GB player was running to one spot, the DET player decided to cut accross his path and got tripped up. Weak!

Favre looked like he was across the LOS there.

Actually that was a good call. The defender bumped him at the 1 yard line.

Favre has a great drive right after though. Looks like this one is over.

This is an example of why you have to try and "kill" teams like the Pats have been doing. They are up 34-12 with 10 minutes to go, defence kinda falls back and not its a 1 possession game. GB will sneak it out because the Lions D isn't that good, but a lot closer than it should have been!

but you can't go doing that, winning by more than 10 points or some people might get whiny out there.
