If they play their cards right in casting and the script, a new movie could actually be pretty hillarious. I'd go see it if it got good reviews and if it was aimed at adults.

I remember the cartoon adaptation in the late 80s being really good too. Probably my favourite show as a kid by a fair margin.

Can you imagine a 4 player co-op mode for a ghostbusters game? My god that would be great!

Also in my opinion D.L. Hughley would be brutal as Winston, I don't think you can throw a comedian into that role. I was thinking someone more like Wesley Snipes for that role. Winston kind of a no nonsense guy, lunch pail kind of guy with a bit of wit. If he was cast as some back talking, one liner goofball type of guy I think I'd puke.

Have you seen D.L. in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? Because that character is pretty much what I'm basing that idea off of

Well if we can't have a comedian playing Winston, then we'll need to search elsewhere. I was thinking of a guy like Delroy Lindo or Ving Rhames, but they're too intimidating.

Morris Chestnut would be a good choice, IMO.

For Egon, how about the guy from Arrested Development that plays the prosecution's Wayne Jarvais. You know, "the worst audience participant Cirque Du Soleil ever had." I don't know his name, but I think he could be a good Egon.

Haha, I was thinking Jason Batemen for a bit, but I don't think he'd be right for the part. He could also be a good Ray, but I think Vince Vaughan would pull that off so well

What about Stephen Colbert for Egon? I realize he does mostly voice work beyond his own show, but I think he would do a great job of Egon's serious, pseudo-scientific delivery. And he and Steve Carrell reunited would be worth the price of admission.

I'd like Don Cheadle or Tim Meadows as Winston.

My line up would be

D.L. Hugley as Winston
Vince Vaughan as Venkmen cause he could go on the rants
Steve Carrel as Ray
and I cant think of a good Egon.
LOL first person that came to mind...Stephan Colbert. 'Nuff said.

LOL Wesley Snipes?!! Are you serious? Snipes is ALL about kickin' some serious ass and being a total bad ass. Total bad casting if he gets Winston's role! Same goes for Denzel!

A Ghostbusters video game (with the original cast as voice talent)? Yay. Could be a riot. Another Ghostbusters movie? Nay. I remember reading about "Ghostbusters In Hell" a couple of years back, and while I can appreciate the clever title I just think it wouldn't work. Sometimes you gotta let it go. For example: when Basic Instinct came out in 1992 it was controversial and incendiary, and Sharon Stone was still kind of hot. The guy who wrote the movie, Joe Ezterhas (I may have spelled the name wrong), was on kind of a roll at the time with these really smutty, trashy, cheap-thrill scripts that had all kinds of cachet - movies like Jade and Showgirls. Basic Instinct was the most successful of his movies and so sequel talk was bandied about for some time, but it didn't happen and then the whole thing got shelved and forgotten about. Sharon Stone got old and saggy. By the time someone thought to resurrect the Basic Instinct sequel, all of the moxie of the original had been lost and Sharon Stone just didn't have it anymore (plastic surgery only goes so far). But they made it anyway. Basic Instinct 2 is an abomination worthy at best of mention on some kind of "Worst Movie Ever Made" list.

Had producers jumped on the idea sooner they might have been able to find an audience who cared, or who would have been appalled for the right reasons. Instead, the film came and went like a fart and if you stopped someone on the street today and asked them if they've seen Basic Instinct 2 they'd probably say, "They made a Basic Instinct 2?"

The sequel to Ghostbusters happened somewhere in between this shelf-life theory to filmmaking - 5 years after the original. You can see where it straddles the line between accessibility and irrelevance. Had the filmmakers waited until 1994 to release Ghostbusters 2, I reckon it would have been an experience to precident the Basic Instinct debacle.

I understand there is a fourth Indiana Jones film coming out in 2008, and I am frankly very afraid of what lies in store for that movie...

Now that I think about it I don't really remember what my point is. I am working late and bored and rambling so if this post makes no sense I apologize.

Partly true, but this cannot be said for all movies. There have been many movies that have done well. Terminator 2, Aliens, Toy Story 2 (which was almost 5 years apart) is a prime example.

In asia, Legend of the Drunken master was made in the late 70s. The sequel wasn't until almost 20 years later, and that movie was a huge hit. Both movies starred Jackie Chan, and people wondered if he could still pull it off.

^ Bring on a third Ghostbusters movie then, and let's see how it goes. Maybe it would work, who can say for sure? You might be right.

Of note, however, is that director Ivan Reitman has already attemped to repeat his Ghostbusters success, in similar territory with his movie Evolution. Remember Evolution? Didn't think so.

I guess ultimately it's really not worth too much thought - in the end, if it does happen and it does suck, is it going to change my life much? Probably not.

I'm more concerned about the credibility of those involved. I hope they do the right thing.

Honestly, I love the Ghostbusters movies, and I'd love to see a third one. But we all have to remember what made the last two awesome.

The chemistry.

Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray were all really good friends and all really wanted to do it. Hell, Dan Ackroyd essentially lived nothing but Ghostbusters for a year to make the first one.

You dont have to go far to see how those three fit together. I dont think that chemistry is repeatable with any other actors. Hell, even with those same actors, they're at different points in their lives and careers.

I dont think it'll happen, but if they could get those guys together again and they really wanted to do it, I bet it would be great.

Old news is old. Also, I'll find the article tomorrow and edit this, but there are rumours floating about that a new movie is in the works, it will have the original cast and be done in CGI.

Edit- Looked for the link, can't find it. Gonna have to get a hold of the person who originally posted it elsewhere.
