Where do you get your news from?

			Simple question.
Not worried so much about the mainstream sites (cnn.com, cbc.ca, etc). Most news sites that are mainstream have very trivial news articles. There is a lot going on in this world, and for the most part our culture is hidden from the truth.

Right here. And then I hear all the same stories I read here on the news on QR77 or in the paper the next day.
I swear that there are media people reading this site. I've heard regurgitated opinions from CP verbatim on various local newscasts.

I go to www.google.ca and hit the news tab. It takes you to here:

http://news.google.ca/nwshp?oe=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wn&q =

Its pretty great. Shows the top news stories in segments like business, health, science/technology, and if you want more news stories on that particular segment, you can open it up to only see health stories etc.

I read it several times a day as it is updated every 15 minutes.

if you're looking for something other than mainstream then:http://www.vivelecanada.ca/
http://www.infowars.com/ and a billion other independent 'news' sites out there.

I can list some others when I get home if you want.

And I do watch Global TV news, but by then I've usually heard about it here.

Google News provides a range of news sources that are very accurate and up-to-date. It's more a tool than a news source, but it is definitely useful.

I have the NY Times page pop-up with every new browser window...I know that's mainstream, but hey, it's quality mainstream. This forum and cbc.ca are pretty informative as well to me.
Also, the Daily Show. Yeah, probably not the best place to get your news, but as long as you take it for what it is, they actually provide a nice little nightly roundup.

I check out digg.com and reddit.com regularly although there is alot of trivial stuff there as well. You can go exploring through the subtopics and find lots of stuff though and the stuff on the frontpages change all the time.

Aside from this forum and a few others, mainly cbc.ca and globeandmail.com.
news.google.ca if I'm searching for something specific, and bbc.co.uk if I'm looking for a Euro-centric story (or a European take on an American story).

Sometimes nationalpost.com and occassionally the Herald (print version).

I don't get any news from television or radio, and I avoid the Calgary Sun as much as possible.

It seems like here, more often then not! This forum is fantastic for news, especially since you get so many different opinions and viewpoints on the story. I also usually read the Edmonton Journal (living in Edmonton) and occasionally watch CBC news.
