Someone asked me to put the case on hold for them yesterday, but if it doesn't go through I'll get back to you.

Make sure you have AGP... I learned that the hard way.

PM sent. And yes, make sure you have an AGP equipped motherboard or it won't work for you.

I'm in the SW near Chinook Mall.

I'll check the specs on my dell and let you know.

Price is OK as per your PM.

I'll be in touch tonight or tomorrow.

Not sure what kind of Dell you have, but make sure it will take a full size card. I have a low profile Dell, or I'd get that Radeon card.

The 6600GT is a fairly small card. No massive heatsink, and it's nowhere as long as some cards. I wouldn't worry about it fitting in a small case.

Talk to you later.

So it is the low profile type then? Like less then 2 inches in height?

Dell Inspiron 530 I believe.

Adding this won't void my warranty will it ??

The 6600GT card is 3/4 inch thick including the heatsink. The 9700Pro is about the same.

If you were to damage the motherboard removing the old videocard or replacing it with a new one, you'd probably void the warranty. Just replacing the card shouldn't be an issue just as adding ram or a new cdrom is fine. They won't warranty the new parts, so keep the old ones should you ever need to return it. That's how I understand things to be with Dell, but I'd call them first to be certain.

Sorry, I was looking for the height. As in the computer is sitting on a desk, motherboard parallel to the surface of the desk, and the distance it comes up from the M/B.

For example, this is a "low profile" video card: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=190173326912

Just with all the desktop Dells I have go through my hands, it might be handy to have a card like that.

Sorry, I misunderstood. The card is 4 inches high.

There are basically 4 kinds these days. You either have a built-in video, pci slots that can be used for different things including pci videocards, AGP slots for videocards, and pci-e slots for videocards. I couldn't tell you if yours has an AGP slot or not, but if you had a model number or something for the motherboard, or perhaps even a picture of the insides of your computer to show me, I could tell you. Or you bring the computer over and I'll tell you in person whether this will work or not.

You could also try this:

From my user manual;

Your Dell™ computer provides the following slots for PCI and PCI Express cards:
• One PCI Express x16 card slot (SLOT1)
• One PCI Express x1 card slot (SLOT2)
• Two PCI card slots (SLOT3, SLOT4)

I don't think the Ge force will work.

Sorry for wasting your time. GL with the sale.

No worries. If you need a good pci-e card, let me know what your budget is and we`ll see what we can do.
