Mostly just the common topics I see on just about every off topic message board ever including "Post what you're listening to now! " and "Check out this hilarious email I got!!"

Hmmmm.... How about the giant p*ssoff of watching your messageboard home of a year & a half get overrun by teenage girls because the subject team does well.
The place where you used to discuss hockey becomes a mall cafeteria full of giggling teenyboppers analyzing how cute Kipper & Ference are.
Chat threads 1000 pages long (over there, pages are 15 posts), topics such as "Kipper's nose is cute", or polls entitled "Who is Hotter??? <3"...

Posting then you realize it's the last post then a new page has formed on the thread. You are assured that no one is going to read your absolute brilliance.

These two are my biggest pet peeves about any board. Which is why I lurk more than I post! :P

definately agree with the first two.

what about having an awesome post, only to have that thread die? what, did I (you) kill the thread? was it just such an awesome, airtight post that no one could dispute anything so didn't bother posting?

- all topics get derailed, but getting derailed 3 posts in isn't cool.

-people who don't use smilies when it can be tough to tell if they're joking or not

-posting something like "I agree" and that's it.

-all those 'this is funny' threads that pop up, and no one responds because there's nothing to really say about it, so it inevitably becomes a fata by someone not on regularily...can't there just be one thread that acts as a 'this is funny' thread and everyone dumps their garbage in there?

List some things that burn your cracker about a message board.

Like I just posted in the main board,

- Finally spending the time to type out and edit a post that feels like the pinnacle of your posting career...AND NO ONE READS IT OR RESPONDS. This is part of the reason I have three line max posts.

Posting then you realize it's the last post then a new page has formed on the thread. You are assured that no one is going to read your absolute brilliance.

Making a mistake in your post that makes you look like an idiot. i.e. Rouge mistaking Brashear for Worrell.

Having Maxwell Edison Mustard Meany take the devil's advocate even when it's the most ridiculous viewpoint ever, even he must say to himself "What the fluck am I typing this out for". I kid MMM.
Making a mistake in your post that makes you look like an idiot. i.e. Rouge mistaking Brashear for Worrell.

ha ha ha, you know what I was thinking before that guy pointed it out? This: (sort of)

- Finally spending the time to type out and edit a post that feels like the pinnacle of your posting career...AND NO ONE READS IT OR RESPONDS. This is part of the reason I have three line max posts.

I thought I had the gag of the season and I was wondering why nobody was responding to my brilliant joke until that guy pointed out the error of my honky ways.

Hey, screw you guys my Star Wars email WAS funny!

I hate SUUUUUUUPER long posts. I read the first 2 lines, skim the body, read the end. In fact I think the only post I've read in this thread in its entirety is Faid1's......*inserts smiley for Calf*

Oh yeah: Really bad grammar drives me nuts. Is it that hard to put a sentence together, and use proper punctuation?

People that dont use punctuation are useless I wont even read what they have to say its too hard to follow along and understand the point they are trying to get across

I always wondered if messageboards had a feature to keep track of 'thread killers' It would be interesting (and scary, and maybe shameful) to see how many times each poster was the last to post in a thread. Kind of like a big public kick in the pants.

They're not always thread 'KILLERS' though. Sometimes their a really good summary thought.

Yea, but there are different degrees of thread killing... Theres the LAST WORD, the comment so stupid, people are speechless, and theres the lack of anything else to say on a topic.

I agree with the paragraph poster. I simply won't read any post that is in the form of one gigantic paragraph.

Another one thats annoying is ppl dat talk like dis u no? no need to punctuate ne thing cuz ppl no wut u mean

The most annoying thing (it doesn't happen here) is when people feel the need to have a humongous sig. The one pagers. It's akin to small man syndrome.

Along the same lines of punctuation and grammar, violent spelling mistakes make me giggle.

The classics like 'definately', there vs. they're, your vs. you're...

I know, I know - get over it. :P

I hate the p*ssing matches. "My mall is better than your Stampede!" I mean, what is there to say that hasn't been said yet?

And I hate people that correct spelling and grammar. Nobody likes an English teacher.

Now what we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is a thread killer in denial.

In all seriousness though, I think i'd be close to number one on the 'thread killer count.' Why just the other day I annihilated a nice discussion about the United Nations. Sometimes I wish The Burden of Thread Killing had never come to me. I wish none of it had ever happened. But then, so do all calgarypuckers who live to post in such threads, but that is not for them to decide. All I have to decide is what to do with the threads that are given to me. In my case, I kill them.

They're all just nice summary thoughts though, right?.. RIGHT?!

EDIT: I hate it when people hijack threads in order to make some half-witted quip that derails the entire topic...

I have a tendency to kill threads..

I rarely make long posts because honeslty I don't have much to say on the topics we discuss.

I like to get my point in, if I even have one, usually it's just a quick one-line comment that we could do without and no one responds anyway.

What do I hate the most about messageboards? Probably that they help me procrastinate

In fact as soon as I return from Singapore I'm going to ban myself until May 1 2005.. or request one.

Well maybe a few days after lol.

I think posting is really an art, something that I don't quite get. I can talk and talk and talk for hours, but I rarely have anything interesting to type, nor the effort to type it out if I did.

I also don't like the finality of posting. I often post something then change my mind and quickly delete it before someone can read it and it's recorded forever. lol, all the "nm" posts by me are those.
