but I think if you put Favre in an identical situation this year versus two years ago (open receiver, good protection, 7 point lead in the 4th etc) on ONE GIVEN PLAY, this year he is much more likely to make the play
|
Not sure how one can come to this conclusion.
Simply put...2 years ago the entire team was not very good at most positions. Ahman Green and Brett Favre and Driver....that was it on offense. So when the passing game was forced into action, it would often fail. Not because of Favre's head space or decision making, but because there was no one getting open and he had no choice. Having said that I agree he did, and still does, take chances with throws that I hate. It has cost them many times, but its paid off more often than not for 17 years. Thats why the guy won 3 MVP's and is going to lead all major passing categories when all is said and done. Including INT's.

Here are some of the past debates including leading up into this season.
Didnt see the one where Favre was mentioned as one of the most over rated players in the game. Interesting take.
But nothing like this stuff from the usual suspect...

BTW, you know much more than Favre himself who has said many times in the last couple weeks that even he didn't think they'd be this good.
And vegas sure as hell didn't think they would be any good either. So either you are an absolute genius ... or maybe just a little lucky. The NFL is difficult to predict at the best time times and people are never biased in favor of teams they have as their avatar ... I'll go with the later.
Very classless post. And how am I a usual suspect I said that stuff one day in the summer and really haven't said anything about the Pack until today.

Truth hurts huh? And my credibility staus according to you means nothing to me at all.

No he didn't. He said he didnt know how good they would be. Yesterday he was asked if they are a great team and he flat out said that he didnt know what that meant. He did say "look at our record and it would suggest we are pretty good".
Quit making stuff up.

Ah...the vegas argument again. And no I did not get lucky nor do I possess any genius. I did say all along they would be better based on the receivers and the O line rounding into form late last season.. No more and no less. I said at the beginning of this season that I hoped they would be 5-3 after 8 games and then get into a easier part of the schedule that should allow them to make a run at a PO spot. Want me to find that as well?
Your words......not mine man. You said with conviction that he was done as a QB, that they would lose BECAUSE of him, and that I (and other Pack fans) were kool-aid drinkers. And I am classless for quoting those said things?
Allrighty then.

Ummm because you railed on and on in multiple threads about how horrible he was maybe?

Yes, I was wrong about Favre, it doesn't hurt at all. I also said the Giants would be good when everyone disagreed. I was right so far, I said the Saints would disappoint I was right, although I did say that the Panthers would win the division ... that doesn't look good.
So no it doesn't hurt, I've been around ball as a player or coach for 14 years and have won 3 provincial championships, so I'm comfortable that I forgot more about football last night sleeping that you'll ever know. My god, your in your mid 40's and you act like a Jr high kid.

He said in 2 different interviews, one after the Broncos game that he did not think they'd be 6-1.

Vegas arguement = good arguement, the collective knowledge about football that creates odds ... I'm going to go on a limb surpasses yours.

Anyone else see the irony in this statement.
Im acting like a Jr high kid because I have debated the correct side of this one? OK then.
Nice to know we have an actual football guru among us though whom loses more knowledge sleeping than I will ever know. Give yourself a pat on the back sparky.

I did? All I have pointed out is that those whom concluded Favre was done two years ago were not looking deep enough into why he was struggling and then proceeded to point out why it looked like things would be better this year. Am I supposed to apologize for this or something?

Yeah the Pack are 8-1, Favre leads the league in pass yards...Im having a blast with it....thanks very much for asking.
Lots else going on though..not sure what that has to do with ANYTHING however.

Ha, hilarious, do you even read? you act like a kid, not because you like the pack and cleverly picked your own team to do well, you are acting like a kid because after 15 posts of me saying Favre and GB are improved you spend 5 minutes building a juvenile I told you so post.
Yet they were wrong...how can that be? They know everything!!
No the don't, but they know more that most, and certainly more than you.

Who said you should. You are acting like a kid now that your sage prediction came true. Last year I said the Saints would do well. I had all kinds of reasons for why they would, but in the end I know that somethings I thought were true, but frankly the NFL is a crap shoot to a large extent and so many things can happen that can cause a team to do well or bad.

Anyway, MNF starting now, enough about the Pack.
Why is Drew Carrey raising the 12 man flag? Isn't he the same guy who brought in the new era of the Browns?

I have attacked no one in this thread personally or in general.
That falls only on two guys that I can see.
Beyond that I have been talking football in between kool-aid swills...please do not dictate what I talk about and if you have a problem with it...tell a mod.

Hey I think the last 4 pages I had to catch up on have been great. Both bringing up great points however I gotta give this one to transplant.
I'm curious why San Fran woulnd't just go for the 3 points, just get something on the board, maybe rally around 3 points rather than ZERO!

Colts claim Simeon Rice off of waivers... going to fill in for an injured Freeney. Huh... it seemed like Rice was a superstud just yesterday.

Lynch was saying that he felt bad that he convinced Rice to come to Denver, saying that it didn't work from the start ... I wonder what the problem was. If he is picked up right away it doesn't sound like the problem was Rice's ability.

Rice really didn't play that much in Denver and I don't know if that has more to do with him or more to do with the exceptional young players they have on the D-Line right now.
Elvis Dumervil has been unbelievable.
Rice may be able to help them replace Freeney. I wouldn't rule that out based on his short and uneventful run in Denver.

I'm pretty sure it was playing time. He wanted it and the young guys were pushing too hard to ignore them. They wanted him to play his off side too because of the emergence of Dumervil.

Well I think you're definitely right about the 49'ers!
I think the Ravens actually wouldn't be that bad except that Billicks play calling right now is killing them and causing them to turn the ball over too much. The Ravens are at a point now where the Chiefs were 2 years ago in that they're a bit too old for their own good. Thats a team thats going to have to get younger here.

The Niners are terrible with a capital 'suck'. Even pulling out my 25 year old red #16 jersey didn't help today. It was not an enjoyable three hours of TV.
