teaching myself guitar... need tabs
Starting to get into guitar but I'm having a hard time finding tabs that will challenge my level without exceeding my limits. Can you help me out? Just mastered wish you were here.
If you know any songs that could take me to the next level please post.
Much appreciated, thanks.

There are a couple of decent online resources at these links:
www.ultimate-guitar.com
www.olga.net
I am by no means a guitar hero but I found the best way to learn was to try to figure out how to play songs I really like. It tends to get you more involved and when you're doing it the right way, you know - because you know the material already. What's your favorite band? Pick a couple of their easier tunes and work on those, and pick up the harder ones as you go.
Or, just learn Beatles songs.
edit: apparently olga got oinked. ts.

Mxtabs is good too except it doesn't have any recent tabs due to legal reasons but you can still visit the old archive.

3 Doors Down - Be Like That
Blink 182 - What's My Age Again
" - Stay Together For The Kids
" - Dammit
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Scar Tissue
I remember learning these when I was starting out. Mxtabs should have them

http://www.tabcrawler.com/tabs.php has pretty much any song you will look for. There will be a couple tabs for each song and occasionally they will have varying levels of difficulty. Most of the old classic rock standards (like Wish You Were Here) are good to learn on. Led Zep has quite a few.

I use Ultimate Guitar for tabs.
Some other songs that are pretty easy that are fun to learn when just starting (Boost some confidence) are Baba Orielly by the Who, (only 3 power chords) Rocking in the free world by Neil Young (again only 3 chords) and All along the Watch Tower by Bob Dylan (not Hendrix)
My first songs I learnt were Hanging by a Moment, and Wherever I May Roam (minus the solos).

Is pretty good as well. Can save your own music book and has the chord structures with most the songs

download powertabs, so you can actually play to the metrenome, and the song correctly, otherwise there is no real point!
also Tears in heaven was one of the first songs i learned and House of the rising son, Eric claptons layla( acoustic)

my advice would be to rely on tabs as little as possible (if at all). you'll be much MUCH better for it. you're not a complete green beginner and it sounds like you've got the basics down so it should be doable.
it all depends on what you want but i can remember sitting down with my guitar, a tuner and a stereo and working out black sabbath tunes. sure it'll take you a bit longer but trust me, it'll be worth it in the long run. you'll get a way better understanding of the music, chords, scales, progressions, etc... and most of all, you'll actually have a half decent ear once you've figured out a couple songs for yourself. picking songs up by ear will get a lot easier as you go. learning your first solo by ear will likely be a bit of a painful experience.

Really i thought it was the won that costed money, powertabs is free im sure, plus guitar pro is 10 x better, do you have 4or5?
I agree with phaneuf three, if you can learn diffrent scales and modes, it makes it so much easier to jam with a band, Pick up songs, Improvise/Soloing etc, also play with different tunings another great way to figure out the right pitch, try tuning by ear as much as possible and than use the tuner to see how close you are, eventually you will be spot on.

It takes a certain ear to be able to do that. I am a serious musician on a few different instruments and the only one I can do that on is drums. I've been in music my whole life and I can barely pull it off.
But I do think if you can you should, but if not Tabs are definitely a great alternate
