Default Cool Christmas Gifts Thread

Starting my shopping a little earlier this year, and am trying to scour the marketplace for some cool gifts. Thought it would be a good idea for everybody to share their unique/exciting/original/awesome gift ideas in one thread. I'll start.

Roboquad robot by WowWee
Full review from PC Mag
Buy it at Robotshop.ca

I can imagine hours of fun with this thing, especially with the cat roaming around taking swipes at it. I wonder how long the 4 "C" batteries last though. At any rate, looks pretty cool and isn't off the charts expensive at about $100-120 US.

A link to the WowWee site, and their full line of robots.

Discovered this one last Christmas, and is probably my favorite board game of all-time:

Blokus

A hybrid of Tetris, chess, and Chinese Checkers, it is amazingly easy to play and very, very difficult to master. Every game is remarkably similar but dramatically different, and the layers of strategy will challenge almost any gamer. If you or someone you love enjoys board games, you'll love this one.

Don't know how much trouble this might get you into with the wife/gf...

Raclette is a DIY meal kind of along the lines of Fondue and surprise, it's Swiss.

We use cheese (Raclette cheese, Gouda, Havarti) melted with pretty much anything, italian deli-meats, veggies etc spread over baby potatoes. Oh so yummy.

They can be found at Springbank Cheese Co, 14th street and 20th avenue location for sure.

If you like Blokus, here is the creme de la creme of board games as rated by the geeks:

Raclette - Another good idea - got one for my mom at the cooking store in Strathcona (I think it is called Happy Cooker).

I'm very happy with my iPod Classic (80 or 160 GB):

How about making your own wine?

This flashlight is great. Single LED that is so bright if you look at it you will see spots for 10 minutes!!!
Waterproof, Impact resistant, long battery life and it's pretty small too. Got one at MEC for my wife's car. It rocks.

For kids, McNally Robinson has these giant pop-up books with huge castles and whatnot depending on the book you like. I'll be getting one for my nephew.

Perhaps not the best gift for the season. But I've always wanted someone to buy me a voucher to get my car fully detailed inside and out.
