Strat-o-matic Hockey - Season Two
We used to play this game in the 1980s. The best sports board game we found (though there was also a good CFL game at the time).
Here is a preview of the players cards for this year's edition.

We might start up a little league. Any other nerds here interested in managing a team?

I wish! Aside from not having any clue how the game is played, I just don't think I can spare the time needed to play the game. Unless you can do it over the 'net during a lunch/coffee break...

It might be 1-2 evenings per month. A game can be played in less than 1 hour. You might be able to complete 2-3 games per session.
Will probably be some kind of player draft to start.
You can play by computer, but we prefer the face-to-face smack, and throwing of dice in anger.

That sounds interesting. As long as the games aren't held in Mac Hall at those tables down by Taco Time. Those Magic guys are scary.

I'm comfortable with my inner nerd... I might be interested depending on figuring out how the hell to play this thing.

Careful - Strat-o-matic is just a gateway game into the world of Dungeons and Dragons!

I'm in, but I want Calgary plus Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Crosby, and Ovechkin. Maybe I will require another defensman...I want Komisarek and Weber too.

No Troutman, for the last time you cannot have Lydman back! Not for Warrener anyway.
Okay Lydman, Peters, and Campbell for Warrener Phaneuf and Godard...

troutman's pre-season press conference:
You know what? You guys don't give us much of a chance. But to be quite honest I like our team. We're one of the top teams in the league. You know what? Calgary is a great place to play. It's a good hockey team. And it's Canada.
As for all the trade rumors, the only thing that gets written is basically gossip. There have been no facts. Where it comes from, I don't know. It shows you that the reporters who don't know things, make things up.
As for being both GM and coach - You know what? I'm doing exactly what I wanted myself to do -- it's dead on. Quite honest, everyone's on the same page. That's because of my relationship with myself -- there's not a difference in philosophy.

Sens pre-season press conference
This team is ready to take on the challenge of winning the Stanley Cup. We have the scoring, defence, leadership, and goaltending. What's more is that we have one thing that no other team has: Ray Emery. While most goalies are flaky and strange, the Senators boast the scariest goaltender in the history of the NHL. Before every game this year, 'Sugar Ray' will spar three rounds to get warmed up. Before game one, he draws a motorist who bumped his Porsche. Game two: Floyd Mayweather. Opponents beware. Goalies, don't even take your eyes off him during the game, you know he will be coming for you sooner or later.
