I can actually say I havent heard of her. I dont watch a lot of CNN stuff and prefer the news with Canadian content moreso. But yes, she certainly adds shock value. Really bizarre!

Ann Coulter and Tucker Carlson have developed entire careers on attacking the Left in the US, and it's stretching past their borders now that the Right wing is left looking so unable to steer the ship down there. Hell, Ann Coulter was the person who said on live air, that she wanted to see John Edwards and his family killed. She also said everybody in the world should convert to Christianity, and that it would solve all the world's problems. Tucker Carlson on the otherhand is just a plain arrogant, insignifcant flapping head, who thought he could win a debate by attacking Canadians with stereotypes and low-brow comments. Seriously, the guy should not be talking. "Welcome to the new century." Are you kidding me? He wears a freaking bow tie.

I sense some blatant jealousy in both of these people. Obviously Canada would be hosed without the US, but in no way are we commited to them. When they start barking off with comments like "We should conquer them," or "They suck because they have French people," or "Canadians just dogsled all day," it really shows they really have no idea what they are talking about, or any real degree of world politics outside of what the good book says they should do, lead alone any factual knowledge of Canada and our foreign relations. They're left lashing their venemous tails out at whoever they can reach, and obviously are doing so as a far cry for attention.

I'll also see if I can dig up a screen cap of when Ann Coulter's website got hacked (twice,) a few weeks back. The hacker left quite a funny message.

Dear Readers,

I've been participating in a charade for nearly eleven years, now. Quite frankly, I'm sick of it. You have all been a part of a sick joke that I began considering shortly after first getting on the air. At first, it was quite interesting to see how people would react when I would use twisted logic and poorly masked bigotry.

But eleven years is a long time to be living a fake life, and I can no longer tolerate this falsity. Even someone as fake as I tires out eventually.

Here's the truth, I don't care what people believe. Jews don't need to be "made perfect" as I so arrogantly proclaimed to Editor & Publisher not a half week ago. I don't even care if people are Muslim. Granted, I don't know much about the religion or the people, but they are people. This is something that we cannot forget, they are in an abhorrent situation. These people are in need of education. Perhaps if we did not participate in causing them misery, they would not hate us so.

In fact, does it really matter whether we are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, or even Pagan? We are one nation. One. We should not let petty differences separate us, we are all American, and should act in that manner.

And with that, my precious viewers, I bid you adieu. My career as a media figurehead is over.

No, not many Americans believe a word she says, but a few do. Those few should probably be sterilized.

John is fully aware how much impact his show has and how many people get information from it. And I am always disappointed when he has "important" guests on his show, and they get a free pass. Especially the ones that he rips on, on a daily basis. I understand why he doesn't do it. But it's still disappointing to watch. But with his show he has painted himself into a corner. It started off as very much about the jokes and more recently has been focusing on giving legitimate opinions about politics. It's a comedy show, a comedy show that barely fills a half hour segment. They don't get that serious about the issues. A good example of a comedy/serious news show, would be Bill Mahers show. Lot's of jokes and low brow humour, but also has semi-serious debates with guests with jokes scattered throughout. Also, if he starts trashing his guests and asking them the hard questions, people are going to stop coming on his show. To be honest, I am not sure if John could run a serious new show. I think he likes the comfort of being able to fall back on humour when he gets pressured.

I agree with that. He does a funny show and at the very least he gets a lot of young people, many of whom would otherwise be watching reruns of The Simpsons, critically thinking about the issues. I'm sure many of his viewers do make the extra effort to look into those issues in a more serious fashion too. I hadn't really considered that in my first post.

As for Maher, is he still only on HBO? I liked watching him on PI on CBS back in the day, but I can't find him on TV anymore. It's too bad. Oh well, he's on Larry King often enough.
