I was in Vegas staying at the Tropicana a few years ago with my wife and some friends of ours. We were waiting outside for a cab. Up pulls this older Rolls Royce or something and parks in this spot right in front of the hotel. A man and a woman get out of the car, walk right past us, and make their way inside the casino.

An employee (in his 40's?) who was there said 'hi' to them and got someone else to get their bags.

I look back and say "Hey.......that was Robert Goulet!" My wife and our friends said "Who the hell is Robert Goulet?"

The guy working in front got us a cab and as we were leaving he looked at me and said "I'm impressed someone your age (I was 30) would know who he was."

I thought it was strange that out of about 50 or so people milling about in front of the casino that I was the only person who stopped and watched the guy walk by into the hotel.

Who didn't know who Robert Goulet was?

I'm surprised so many here know who he was. Never my cup of tea but he was a pro at what he did and I liked the Canadian background he had. I think he used to appear in 'Theatre under the Stars' in Vancouver. When he made it big in the musical Camelot, the popular idea was that it was a takeoff on the Kennedy administration and maybe it helped to give Presidents that certain Emperor aura.

Yes, but they remember him for his later accomplishments, not for Camelot as we do.

I know him only to say that Will Farrell had one of his best SNL skits IMO as Robert Goulet.
