Is it just me or is there way too many NFL fans on here to just have one continuing "NFL Regular Season" thread going all year long? haha theres always like three or four topics going on at once. We're only through Week 8 and are already up to page 39...

Ugh...Don't get me started on Andy Reid's playcalling inside the 3 minute mark.
2:20 to go, 2nd and 5, and up by 6 on Dallas? Throw a quick slant. (Pick six and the end of McNabb's season)
3:00 to go, 4th down in a divsional playoff game in New Orleans, and down by 3? Punt. (New Orleans runs the clock out against the Philly D that had been soft against the run all day).
1:30 to go, Bears backed up one their own 12 with on timeouts? Let's play prevent D!

I still dont understand that one, especially the way the Saints had been moving the ball on offence all game. Not to mention how easily the Eagles picked up the first before the flag came down on 4th and long the previous play to make it 4th and longer. What made him think he couldnt just do it again? Don't get me wrong though, I loved it

I don't think I've ever yelled louder at my TV. Considering they had been picking on Carter (?) successfully all day and field position wouldn't have mattered at that point, it was easily the worst call I've ever witnessed.

You're probably thinking of Fred "Toast" Thomas(our #2 CB then). That name's still a swear word over on the Saints boards. Near the end of the year, teams finally figured out how bad he was and just picked on him all game. Grossman did the same thing to him with Berrian in the NFC Championship Game with similarly successful results.

That's right. For some reason I had Dale Carter stuck in my head.

There is entirely too much Broncos and Saints talk here, for a 32 team league.

I know everyone is looking forward to the Pats/Colts game this weekend, but the game of the week is going to be Eagles/Cowboys. The Eagles are finally healthy, just in time to welcome T.O. back to town. If Philly wins they go to 4-4 and are just two games out of first in the NFC East. If they lose, the season is effectively over.
For Dallas, it's a chance to see how Tony Romo reacts on the road against a divison rival, after recently signing a big extension. Dallas also has a chance to go up by another game on the idle NY Giants.

But there isn't much that should be said about my 49ers. Fire the OC!!
Chargers have finally decided to play liek they can, at least judging by the scores.
I'm not sure who the Lion's have pictures of from the Bears, but taking both games sure makes the Lions look good. Which is weird considering how bad the Eagles made the Lions look.
Adrian Peterson is incredible for the Vikings - if there was some semblance of a passing game the Vikings may have caused more than a few headaches.
Vinnie - 'nough said.
J-E-T-S S-U-C-K
Giants have had a similar start to the Chargers - really bad early then somehow they woke up. It will be interesting to see the effect of the London trip, but was it really much worse than a SD game?
NFC West are just bad. All of them. Even the Seahawks don't scare anyone anymore.
Browns are quietly coming along nicely. I don't think any team can take them for granted.
Bengals need a defense. I think their lack of character players allows the D to give up and let the Offense do all the work, and the strong personalities on the Offensive side are more than happy to dump on the D. However without a running game they can count on, the Bengals are looking more like the Bungles of the past.
The Bill are sure playing hard, and for a team with so many tough injuries and tough loses I sure do pull for them.

Agreed. This is the Cowboys chance to stomp the Eagles (their achilles heel over the years) out of the playoffs. Cowboys had a similar opportunity last year on Christmas Day but lost miserably to the Eagles at Texas Stadium.

Bengals at Bills this week. I think this is a great chance for the Bills offense to attack that weak defense. Who's starting at QB for the Bills?

Yeah, back on page 18 or something you'll find me asking if we can't just make a new thread for each week.
I suppose for it to actually happen someone could just go ahead and make the new thread!
As for the Lions, the Redskins also made them look awfully bad. The Lions are just bad on the east coast. Anywhere else, they're fine!

No such thing my friend. After spending the first 10 years as a Saints fan in relative obscurity(save for the constant question: "What made you start cheering for the Saints??"), this place is a cornucopia of Saints satisfaction.

Edwards hurt his wrist against the Jets. I haven't heard how serious but given it was his wrist and he's a QB I wouldn't be surprised to see Losman start.
That said, I like the Bills in this game either way.

According to Yahoosports.com, Losman will be the Bills starting QB this weekend.

I'd like to see what Losman does now. Either he crumples now that there's pressure on him for the starting job and Edwards goes back as starter, or he excels and takes his game up a level and you get to choose each week between 2 young and talented QB's. Not a bad position to be in really.
edit: Just noticed that Edwards is injured. Hopefully not serious.

Youre obviously right - if Brady gets hurt in a blow out, the Schottenheimer gaf when Brees got hurt will be overshadowed like nothing else as the "stupidest decision ever."
My point, is that I dont like it when teams let off. I think it's more referring to when they just run the ball, punt and refuse to be creative. Keep passing, keep pushing down the field.
|
Theres no need to let off, keep calling plays with half your backups. When your up 35 you shouldnt be afraid to throw the ball with your backup.

Hopefully loserman keeps playing after this week, the dolphins will actually have a chance to win on the 11th if hes at the helm.

I've heard from some NFL analysts that throwing the ball is in poor form when up by a lot. I think that is the main problem I have with the issue. It's like a defense not blitzing when theyre team is up by a lot.
