Not an important enough issue to have a referendum over. Obviously the turnout to that meeting was incredibly biased. Don't confuse a few loud angry zealots with consensus.

When you lose in a general vote, and lose as badly as they did, then it is a consensus.

If you care enough about an issue you show up to vote.
