Did you see the economy class "seats" let alone Business class? (Or on Singapore Airlines, I believe it's called Raffles Class)........That thing was insane, is going to turn the standards of airplane travel upside down. I'd pay a little extra to take a flight on that plane, you get all your amenities, crazy amounts of leg room (you get almost a bed), and to top it off, you get the great service that Singapore Airlines is known for.
All I can say is - wow.

the A380 can be configured for 850 seats, but the one Singapore Air has 471 seats

I would love to fly on this plane. It would feel as though you had never left home.. Hell.. the place has some nicer stuff than I have in my place..

Finally, that A380 is done its maiden voyage... now... 787. when u comin out?
Does anyone know if or when Air Canada or is getting their A380s... or better yet, when is Air France flying from Paris into Montreal with that A380?

I don't think we will see it in western canada any time soon. it needs a super long runway.

Calgary and Edmonton have 2 of the longest and Vancouver is fairly long too....no problems.
Canada...wide and long! Just no passengers.

Always flown with Singapore Airlines.....when I was in Singapore earlier on in the Summer, Changi airport was filled with banners about the new A380.
Absolutely gorgeous plane....
By the way, once you fly Singapore Airlines...nothing and I mean NOTHING else compares.
We did the second longest non-stop flight in the world, on the executive class A340-500 from Singapore to Los Angeles. I believe it was 16.5 hours and it felt like you were in a first class suite at a luxury hotel.

I think Air Canada is going with the 787's but there are delays and I have heard end of 2009, maybe 2010?

And has landed in Nunavut I believe to do cold weather testing. If I recall though, the runways in Calgary are not wide enough or have the necessary weight rating which is why they are looking into the new parallel runway.

Interesting. Calgary is designated as an alternative (emergency?) landingsite for the Spaceshuttle, which weighs on average 4.5 million pounds. The A380s max takeoff weight is about 1.2 million. Take out the payload of the shuttle, and I imagine they're at least equal in weight.
I imagine the problem in Calgary would either be the aforementioned runway width issue, or the fact that Calgary's gates can not accomodate it.

You're looking at gross takeoff weight including boosters and fuel. The orbiter itself is only about 150,000 pounds, or 200,000 with max payload.

Says at the beginning of the article tickets were purchased through a charity online auction. So the person paid that money on purpose to donate I'm guessing. What a guy/gal!
