I don't know any 2nd Lieutent's that get to fly helo's. I have a couple friends that get to fly start learning on the tutors and got to ride shotgun on the F-18.
Well, all pilots in the Canadian forces train first on fixed wing aircraft prior to specializing in a different field (jets, Hercs, helos, etc.), so I wouldn't be surprised that many of them are either 1st Lts. or Captains by the time they're flying in an operational squadron rather than a training unit.

Yeah I got my glider license through cadets as well.. though not my power, moved to the city and the new cadet squad didn't want to recognize my rank, and I didn't want to start out at the beginning in my last year.

Not recognize your rank? why? I thought that they are supposed to recognize what rank u earned regardless of which squadron you are in. I was in Cadets for several years and wanted to get my glider and powered aircraft wings through them... but when I decided to take on IB in high school, I had absolutely no time to attend cadets with the load of work I constantly get so I dropped cadets in pursuit of my studies.

Now, I am going about getting my wings in a different manner.

No idea, something about they thought the squad I was in wasn't very good or something stupid like that.

It's standard nationwide, promotions might not be standardized, but none the less, if u earned it in one squadron, you must have some leadership qualities to be able to earn them. Being from a "not a very good squadron" is the worst reason I've ever heard

Yeah I was pretty upset at the time, but figured I was going to be busy with other stuff as well as it would have been my last year anyway, so it wasn't that big a deal.
