Yeah I was looking at that.

Kind of a hassle for traveling...but meh...as long as everything works.

I'm having trouble with YouTube. Videos don't play and I just get a message saying:

"you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player."

both of which is untrue. any ideas what it might be? anyone else having this problem?

Hey guys,
Recently set up a wireless network to facilitate my dad's new laptop. But now I have a question as to how to set up our shared printer through the wireless network so my dad an use it straight from his laptop?
I've tried to hook it up manually to the router to recognize the printer but that didn't work. And it also doesn't recognize the printer while being connected to the wireless network, so I turn to CP computer gurus for help on this one.

What type of printer is it, and what type of router?

If it is a wireless printer, or even wired printer (directly connected to the network, and not a pc), you would have to set up as a IP based printer.

There is probably a setting in the linksys admin section that lets you set up a print server, and you should be able to connect to the printer that way.

I have never done it, but that hopefully should work. Not sure if you would have to do anything to the printer as well. But most likely you would have too.

Is the laserjet network enabled?
If not, then is your router able to act as a print server?
If not then you will need to buy something like this.

They all are set up a bit different, so the manual will be your friend.

What browser do you use? If you're like me and use Firefox with "NoScript" installed, you need to enable the scripts from Youtube to work.

Try re-installing Adobe Flash, rebooting and giving it another shot. Chances are, something is goofed up with your plug-in configuration.

Last resort: if you are using Internet Explorer, verify what "Security Zone" Youtube is listed under. Verify that javascripts are able to be run in that zone.

Beyond that I can't think of any good reason why it wouldn't be working for you.

I have a problem...

one of my friends was trying to 'cut' and paste pictures....and after she clicked 'cut'...her computer crashed before she could click paste.

Is there any possible way to retrieve them?

I found this on bleeping computer...

Quote:
Do not worry, though, as the original document you cut will not be deleted until a valid copy is pasted elsewhere.
So where is it stored?

Also, there is a chance that the computer has been restarted numerous times since the mistake happened.

Okay I figured out that everything you cut is stored in the windows xp 'clipboard'....which I also found in the system32 folder.

But this is on my computer....I'm trying to figure everything out.

Does the clipboard store everything even if you restart your computer? I guess I could cut some pictures and restart without pasting them.

My old grey cable modem from Shaw seemed to die so I got it exchanged for one of the newer DOCSIS models.

Unfortunately, they seem to only be handing out the budget model these days. Instead of the black model with the USB ports, I got the blue model which is cheaper and missing those features.

Anyway, it seems my internet is really slow for some reason, could it be the new modem? On the bandwidth speed testing sites I get only 249-487 KBps for my download speed. Those sites say the average for shaw is more around 2-3MBps.

are you getting 249-487 KBps or kbps? The quoted speeds are 2-3 Mbits a second no mega bytes.

I ran into the same problem, just started yesterday, worked perfectly fine one day, yesterday, same stupid message. So went on line, looking for others with similar problems, and there are like tons, so some new problem. Anyhow, various suggestions were given, in the end, the one that worked for me was to delete temporary files, and then refresh, reboot. So simple in the end compared to other suggestions.

Some had success with these suggestions, I did not. I saved them just in case I run into this problem again. Hopefully one of the suggestions works for you.

1.
... but all i did to fix the problem was to goto control panel and goto add/remove programs then i went to internet explorer 6.0 and then it asked me if i wanted to unistall or repair well all i did was click on repair and suddenly my internet explorer 6.0 was working correctly.
Well i hope that fixes yall problem.

2. Go to this site:
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
and download and run Windows Flash Player 9 Active X control content debugger for IE. I also downloaded the Flash projector content debugger for windows just for good measure.

3. Just go to this website: http://www.softwarepatch.com/ Search for flash player
and download and install this file. I guess the problem of everybody is because the link on youtube´s website downloads a "non functional file ".

4. This new .msi file will solve you the problem and you can decide to use IE, or FIREFOX or whatever browser you like most ! All the programs will work again

5. Get IE7
Go TO http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
and download and run Windows Flash Player 9 Active X control content debugger for IE. I also downloaded the Flash projector content debugger for windows just for good measure

6. Not sure if everyone figured it out or came up with a solution but I just did some trouble shooting and it turns out my Norton 360's Ads/Popups blocker was enabled. (It can be any other Ads/Popups programs). So if you have any programs that blocks Ads/Popups, turn it off or add the address to your unblock sites. Well, I hope this will help for some of you.

7. This was posted on the youtube site today and I've been working to fix this all afternoon. It worked.

http://youtubestatus.blogspot.com/20...pt-turned.html

8. Delete temporary files, cookies, or both, refresh and reboot.

What do you mean? What background image are you using?

Can you post a screen cap?

I fiddled with it and it decided to work. I think it was just stuck from one of the windows I was using.

I'm looking for a USB - Game port adaptor.

I have an old Logitech Wingman Joystick (15 pin) that I would like to use with my new Dell PC. (USB ports only)

I have found a couple on the net but would like a local (Calgary) supplier if available.

TXS in advance.
