Well in this series anyone not named Beckett hasn't given the team any quality starts.

shhhhhhhhhh i'm going for the bluff.
pitching was awesome regular season, playoffs have been a whole other issue. i've never been a fan of matsuzaka. i thought wakes and schil would have performed better. timlin, okajima, papelbon and beckett have been great. everyone else has been biting big ones. i thought lopez would have done a little better. gagne is as expected. wakes is just one of those pitchers -- either he is lights out or pitching BP. not much in between.

Man, I hope the Tribe win 30-3 tomorrow night. That would be sweet - I would love to see them win the Series after the 1997 debacle that was the Florida Marlins.

Hey, Tony Fernandez impression of Bill Buckner was flawless in that game. Get hits....blow the play that should have ended the game.

Well tonights game is a pretty good duel here. Manny looked like he might have hit a two run home run but only got a single out of it. Earlier he gets thrown out at the plate on a play where he ran hard but made it too easy on the catcher. I can't imagine what that guy could do if he had that element of meanness in him to compete. The guy is one of the greatest hitters ever, but to think he maybe could have been better.

Beckett brought his A game tonight. I thought the AL Cy Young was a tough award to hand out this year as all of Beckett, Sabathia, Carmona, and Lackey have very similar numbers. But if you extend the post season play (which they don't) Becket is the guy.

Beckett was amazing last night -- despite getting squeezed by the ump. Crisp is just killing us. I hope to god he is taken out of the lineup for saturday, Ellesbury can't be any worse. The sox made some real boneheaded defensive plays, so it was good to see some bats wake up and make up for the stupid plays. I think, in all honesty, if we can win game 6, we will take game 7 too. Hopefully the long break will cool colorado's bats off.

Manny! Oh man, where do you even start with that guy? He is like the Rainman of baseball. He's ran out on the field in other players uniforms, starts toward the dugout on 2 outs. Thrown the ball into the stands with two outs. Ran into the greenmonster in the middle of an inning (i assume to go to the bathroom???). Every game it is something new. Don't get me wrong, I love the Manny's and the Ortiz's on the team, but I'm most fond of the Lowells and the Bill Muellers of the team. Those solid baseball players, that give every thing day in and day out. They aren't the superstars, but just flat out know good fundemental baseball. No showboating, no antics, just darn good players. I was very sad to see Bill leave and even sadder to hear his career is over. The sox certainly lucked out with Lowell though.

I just can't figure out what happened with some of the newer guys. Like Gagne, Drew and Crisp. Guys that did pretty darn good before getting to the sox. Especially JD. He just seems lost. Francona needs to do something with the bottom of the lineup if they want to win game 6. At this point, I'm not sure who the lesser of two evils is -- Tek or Mirabelli. Neither one is hitting for crap. Tek does call a good game though, no question about that. The pitchers have his number though when is at the plate and he refuses to adjust. Throw him something off speed, inside and he can't lay off of it.

Oh well. I guess I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride for as long as it goes. If not, there is always hockey

Beckett's ex flown in to sing national anthem:

http://www2.sportsnet.ca/blogs/marti.../the_exfactor/

[this article is useless without pictures]

The scheduled anthem singer conveniently had a last minute scheduling conflict, so the only person the Indians' brass could think of to call on was none other than that famous songstress that would be at the top of anyone's mind... Danielle Peck.

Who?!

In case you're not familiar with Peck's work, she used to give personal concerts to Beckett when the two dated.

Yeah, I heard about that on Jim Rome. What they needed to do was let her sit in the dug out and make out with everyone on the Indians while the game went on too. Maybe that would have rattled him. It would be bush league....but damn funny.

Schilling on the mound for the Sox in game 6. I think this goes to game 7. I expected a solid game from the Sox tomorrow.

I heard that Game 7 will be played in Boston.

When did MLB go to the 2-3-2 playoff format? I thought only the NBA did that.

If I was a betting man, i'd place my money on the Sox in game 7.

Meanwhile they're forecasting a huge snow storm for Denver this week.

Ive never seen a team that was actually comfortable down 3-2.

Dice-K has struggled but they will have everyone available to pitch other than Schilling. Look for Francona to have a very short leash on Dice-K and turn to Wakefield and even Beckett (on three days rest).

I have a feeling we'll see the core guys like Ortiz, Youkilis and Manny will come through strong tomorrow.

Is there a more tortured city, as a whole, than Cleveland?

Not sure why, but the Sox have this uncanny belief that they can win dispite all odds being against them. So cool and full of confidence.

Manny and Ortiz are clutch performers and I expect will put on quite a show in game 7.

If I was a Cleveland fan i'd be praying for some kind of miracle. The Sox by all rights were dead and buried after game 4, yet the Indians gave them second life. Any time you give your opponent a second life, chances are they'll make you pay for that mistake.

Well game 5 was on the 18th and game 7 is on the 21st. That means that Beckett has the 19th and 20th off - 2 days rest.

I dont think you can start a guy on 2 days rest (especially with the concerns regarding Becketts blisters), but it was 2001 where Schilling and Johnson pretty much did all the pitching for Arizona. I think Johnson came in for relief on no days rest to help out in game 7.

You start Dice-K, but you have Beckett and every starter except for Schilling sitting in the bullpen knowing they might get the call.

You think CC will be available for an inning or two in the Cleveland pen?
