reading this kind of stuff makes me feel physically ill.

Not to start a debate, but this is the kind of situation where i believe capital punishment is the correct one for the crime.

The Dollars are accused of forcing the five children to sleep in a closet in the master bedroom with a "wind chime affixed to the door so that the Dollars would know if they tried to get out of the closet," Tierney said.

In addition, they are accused of using a cattle prod or some sort of stun gun to shock the children, securing them to spots in the house with chains, striking their feet with hammers and pulling out the children's toenails with pliers.

"There was evidence of damage or missing toenails of these children," Tierney said. There was no evidence of sexual abuse, she said.

"To look at the photos I saw, it was just extremely unnerving," Tierney said. "They looked like pictures from Auschwitz."

I'd say no to capital punishment. I would have to say yes to 50 years of cattle prodding, stun-gun, toenail-removing, and starvation. In a dark closet.

May they rot in hell, and then rot in hell.

What the hell is wrong with some people!?

I feel bad if I accidently step on someones toe. I couldn't imagine wanting to torture people, let alone innocent children.

When I first heard this I simply could not believe it. The kids involved will never have a chance at a normal life...they will be scarred forever.
These scum should be tortured as much as they tortured the kids in their care....absolutley pathetic!

Something is seriously wrong if the judge doesn't invoke the max penalty for this.

These children are going to be scared for life. Some of them will be beyond hope (i hope not).

Obviously you don't have kids yourself. This is a really sad and disgusting story, I hope the parents get treated the same way in prison.

Whoa, he made a bad joke, one or two swearing replies is probably enough.

Terrible case of torture here, truly despicable. Does anyone know exactly what the parent's would be charged with in this kind of situation? Would there be one or two charges that really put them away, or will there be hundreds of little ones that add up into several consecutive life sentences?

Anyone know how consecutive life sentences works? Like, if they only get one charge, w/ a max of 25 years, then they can get out after 25. But if they're charged with 10 counts of 10 year max, do they then get 100 years of consecutive sentence?

It'll be interesting to follow the punishment for these people.

It could theoretically work both ways.

It all depends on how solid the case against them is. Often, the prosecution will offer the sentences to be served concurrently if they think they might have a difficult time proving a specific charge over one that carries a weaker penalty.

Its become pretty rare that the U.S. system will offer concurrent sentences in a case like this, they're probably looking at consecutive terms which will defeat any chance of them getting parole someday.

Thats why you still hear about 250 year sentences in the states.

I don't know what charges they can bring against the parents, but things like Child Endangerment, conspiracy, illegal confinement, attempted murder would be a starting point, they'll probably drop the minor charges in exchange for a guilty plea.
