Are you the type of driver who speeds up so drivers can't make that lane change?

Oh, he was justifying why he races his truck, I gotcha. Well racing your truck downtown is still ridiculous and still uses lots of gas despite whatever fuel you put it in.

If they're trying to cut me off, I speed up. Otherwise, I just drive my normal speed, I do let other cars in the odd time.

I am of the firm belief that anyone driving a truck (other than commercial) downtown during business hours should be subject to a tax. What is the friggin point of driving a 1 ton pickup truck down to your office on 4th avenue? There's enough parking problems as is without some dumbass taking two spots with his truck that clearly compensates for what he is missing between his legs.

London has a huge toll just for entering downtown; something like 8 Pounds per entry, and that doesn't include parking. This would address everyone, not just trucks.

Why does it really matter what kind of vehicle somebody drives around in really matter. A guy wants to drive a truck, let him drive a truck, wants to drive a car, drive a car. Theres just as many idiots driving around in little civics with 3ft wings and bullhorn mufflers and mini vans as there are in trucks. Just sounds a wee bit bit bitter to me....

There should be one in Calgary on any "personal" truck over 1/4 ton in the downtown core during business hours. There is no goddamn reason for it, other than what I said above, compensating for what they lack between their legs.

I think that tax in London is 15 pounds, i'm not sure though.

So, judging by that statement- obviously you own a truck over and above the one car per driver in your household, right? If so, that's great. However many of us cannot afford the payment on an extra vehicle to use only on weekend trips to Home Depot.

If somebody parks like a jerk, then that's one matter. To suggest that because a person owns one vehicle that is multi-purpose means he is less of a man than you are.......... well that is more arogant than the truck driver who was the focus of this thread to begin with.

I don't have a problem with people driving a truck, but why drive one to work in the dowtown core every day if you don't have to? It's stupid, and costs other people money (scratches on doors because they have to park so close to you they can't get out without hitting your car, inflated parking costs because they are taking two spots for the price of 1, etc.)? Leave the truck at home.

I'm not saying everyone is, but the majority of the people driving the trucks I am talking about downtown are the lawyers, accountants, bankers, etc. These are the big $60,000-$70,000 trucks with the lift kits, and all that garbage that has nothing to do with the actual purpose of a truck. There's no reason for this other than the reason I've stated above. If you want to drive a 1/4 ton truck downtown, fine. I have no problem with it. You want to drive a a 1 ton truck with lift kits downtown and park, you should be subject to a tax.

I'm not just talking about trucks either, I also mean vehicles like Escalades, Hummers, etc.

Yeah, and you must be the ######bag that cuts people off just to make a lane change without even signalling. I knew you looked familiar

Inflated parking costs because of taking two spots for the price of one? Dont really know how you are able to really link how someone parks to an increase in your parking rates, but hey whatever you want to use to justify things, go for it. There are tons of regular sized vehicles out there with drivers that park right on the line. I guess you could alos include those ###### bags that park their BMW across 2 spots as well. In fact, why dont we just create a little parking authority that goes around and makes sure that you are parked correctly within the marked space. Dont be busting on people for having a vehicle that they enjoy, bust on people that are completly incompetent when it comes to everyday life.

Aggressive drivers like you are what causes accidents and kills people.

This is why a lot of people don't even bother signalling when they make lane changes. Signalling just makes the other vehicals speed up and close the gap so you can't get in.

No, I'm pretty sure the people that don't bother signaling behave that way because they are ######ed. There is no excuse not to signal. If people know how to drive it woudl be a habit. It is for me. I signal at a four way stop at 2am with nobody around. It's habit.

agreed, signalling like shoulder-checks, should be ingrained in every driver from the start. it shouldn't even be a choice, your hand should hit the signal automatically.
