They are still in R&D mode, and looking for amateur players to help out. Nothing for sale yet. $200 credit to those that participate toward a new pair.

I just saw a story about these on channel 8... wow, looks like the R&D has gone very well.

Studies suggest significant performance enhancements.

They have Gretzky as a promoter of the product.

Now I want to try these.

Such a simple idea, why didn't I think of this?!

I saw this article on TSN. Sounds like an interesting concept.

The warm blade increases the thickness of the water layer between the blade and the ice surface, and the company says its tests have shown this reduces gliding friction and starting resistance for skaters.

Sounds interesting. Would it make the ice melt faster and then the end of the period would have sketchier ice?

Cool idea, but it is most definetly cheating, it will never make it to the NHL.

While they're at it, I would like to see my boy hood fantasies of 'rocket-skates', everyone can be Lombardi!

I don't know, it sounds to me like it's just one step away from happening with several players being asked by the NHL to try them out in practice.

I really feel for the hockey parents on this one... another $350 investment that the kids are going to be begging for because some other guy on the team has a set and stakes pretty good.

I've used them before...amazing skate.

Takes some getting used to though.

No it's different from the t-blade. this has a small electronic mechanism that it powered by a battery that heats up the bottom of the blade creating a water barrier between the ice and the blade. I would like to try it

These seem like a great idea. I wonder how the internal circuit boards stand up to such things as shots blocked with the skate? They seem destined for the NHL.

That's interesting, especially considering the hype. Wonder what'll happen to the company now. Without the NHL, it's definitely going to be hard.

Thermablade filed for bankruptcy as of July 22, so that chapter is done.
