I see both...try reading the article and then look at her...or otherwise completely just let your mind go and then look at her...it works for me

That is messed up- I see mostly one way but then it switched the other way. EEEEK! I think it might switch itself to fool us haha, and if it doesn't then that is one crazy brain trick!

All-right. To effectively change her rotation, focus on the hips. Then make a mental adjustment to have the non-standing leg be either the left leg or the right leg. As soon as you do that, it changes the rotation accordingly.

Put more simply. To make the image appear to rotate in opposite directions, adjust your perception of which leg she is standing on.

If you want to see the image go counter clockwise, start thinking analytically about it. Get skeptical and start focusing on details.

If you want to see it go clockwise, just start thinking about how much you love your donut. Or let your mind wander.

The picture has been designed to present some logical incongruence's so if you stare at it logically, you'll notice them (arms and neck rotation, body and silhouette) and see the figure turning clockwise. If you stop thinking about it and just stare while "feeling" something, it will switch.

Interesting little demonstration.

Wow, that's cool. I didn't think I could ever get it to go counter-clockwise, but eventually I realized it had switched! Great find. I'm pretty skeptical of the left-brain vs. right-brain claims, though.

Here's another optical illusion that always blows me away:

If you haven't seen this one before, squares A and B are the exact same colour. Go ahead, copy it into paint and try it out.

Another neat one is the McCollough Effect. If you stare at some bars of green and purple, after a while, you'll see haze of the opposite colour on a black grid. This effect will last even overnight. It's puzzled researchers for years.

Yah, I'm pretty sure it's legit, once I got used to staring at it, I could pretty much change her rotation at will.

I can only see her going counter-clockwise. No matter which 'tricks' I use to think of her as going clockwise, she just won't do it.

In fact if you load it up in an image editor and use the eyedropper tool, both colours are exactly the same: Red: 120 Green: 120 Blue: 120 (or #787878)

Our minds are so easily tricked.

Bull. It is no trick.

It is the same set of pictures (heck, it's in gif format, find a ripper and check the individual scenes.)

I can see both at will. Not at any phantom "switch" point. After 1,5,10... whatever number of revolutions, if I want to see the other, it is there. It IS perception, and perception only.

I think the easiest way to change the rotation at will is to look at the leg she's sticking out. Every time it passes the other leg, you can decide if it's in front of it, or behind it. If you think to yourself "in front, behind, in front, behind" (or "behind, in front, behind, etc"), you can switch it easily.

That's what I have to do. It's neat that some posters find it easier to switch than others. I wonder why.

All the ones who find it easier are gamers with advanced spatial perception areas of their brains

(just kidding, I have no idea)

Similar to that method. I've now taken to simply making the leg come towards me on whichever side of the body. That changes it for me everytime.
