There is a good chance Burris will play this week, not Sankey.

I liked his interview after the game against the Lions how he was saying something along the lines of how he had the Lions just where he wanted them... until he got hurt. Ah well good luck to him!
I'll be at the Nov 3 game! woot.

I do feel bad for the guy... Smith that is. You could tell from the interviews from the receivers once Burris went down that they were really positive for him and were promising to really pick up their play for him.
If he would have used his legs he might've been able to get some better numbers. You need to create in the CFL, not like the NFL were for themost part you sit back and hit your hot routes cause you don't have much time to create back there.
Anyway, once again Barker shows his intelligence by signing all of these QB's that are journeyman (McManus), to guys like Smith who have not played in what, 4 years? How about developing a guy like Buono has done time and time again, just like he did with Sankey and build some chemistry into the team instead of always forcing pieces in.
Sometimes all the talent in the world does not make up for chemistry, and wow Barker, how many more times do you need to prove this to us?

Didn't that happen with Jason Gesser too? Another guy who had been out of football for a couple of years, comes in to a hot situation and is just isn't prepared for that level of football. These guys are simply too rusty to contribute after being away from the game for so long.
I mean being on the practise roster of an NFL team is different than say being out of football long term, which was the case with both of these guys.

I'm pretty sure Guesser was right out of college. Graduated in 03 i believe. We picked him up from BC for a first rounder.

In 27 career games (CFL and NFL), Smith through a combined 5 TD's... This guy may honestly go down as one of the worst QB's in pro football history

Was not surpised with this move at all. I am not sure if his head is still swollen after signing those multi-million contract in the NFL or he is just PLAIN BAD QB!! Shoot Jermaine Copeland and Brett Ralph is a better QB than this guy.

Very true. Heck, we're even seeing with Printers that it's hard to come off an NFL practice roster and be successful right off the hop in the CFL. When Burris came back to the CFL after his NFL stint, it took him over a year to get back to playing respectable ball in the CFL.
Ya know, I have to laugh at this a bit. A couple of my buddies who are big into the 'NFL is great, CFL is garbage' ignorance told me how Smith and Shaun King were going to rip up the CFL this year. I told them that King would be cut before camp ended (which he was...in Hamilton no less) but Smith may have a chance to learn and do something in Calgary behind Burris (given that Calgary had very little depth at QB behind Burris at the beginning of the year). But after watching Smith on Monday and the week previous, it was clear he was not cutting it as a CFL QB - Smith needed to adjust his game to the CFL more (more rolling it, moving around - getting creative a bit) and didn't do it.

Sounds like Higgins with start Sankey and bring Burris off the bench. Not having a decent backup was just one of many bonehead moves by the Stamps this year. Spending the cash on yet another receiver and going with such a young inexperienced defense(especially the defensive line) was another. Man I miss Wally.

I completely agree, I've almost turned into a lions fan just because of him alone. Its amazing how one owner chased Wally out and as a result of his desire for his son Feterik to play, we were left with zero talent at QB!, and we are still dealing with it years later

Gesser was a third stringer for the Titans for a couple of years before he came to the Stamps.

I'm more of an NFL fan but that's such a stupid argument on your buddies' behalf. Garbage QBs like Smith, King, Wynn, Crouch, etc are not good enough to play at a professional level. They were awful at an NFL level and at a CFL level. It's not due to a lack of physical talent. All of these guys share the inability to read defenses in any league.

I agree - I'm a bigger CFL fan but am also an NFL fan and this whole CFL players suck, NFL players are great argument has always irked me. It's come to a point where I don't even argue anymore - just laugh and let the results (i.e. - King, Smith, etc) do the talking.
