You a good man photon! Haha as I read my post I realized that playing through windows media player on a laptop certainly couldnt help while using an apple itouch.
Do you think it would actually stream quick enough to listen to seemlessly?

Interesting, drop the price, and add a dedicated email client, and I could have my next piece of electronic gear for travel.
I'll stick to my BlackBerry for around town use though. Not tethered to a wifi signal with great email.

Does the US already have a 3G network?
because Canada doesn't have a 3G network (it won't for a long time... since Rogers is using another phone video calling network)

One of the biggest problems with all Apple products (and I am a huge fan and daily user of both Macs and Ipods) is the price disparity between the US and Canada. With the dollar as it is - I'm gonna start buying all my apple products down south whenever I travel there.

Thats where they're gonna start, but what I was reading in the Toronto subway... their advertisements mentioned absolutely nothing about 3G but another one that is similar to 3G

Yeah, and even more oddly, you can enter contacts directly on the Touch, even though you can't dial them, obviously...stupid Apple on this one. It's a petty, software only thing they've done to differentiate it from the iPhone.
I think the Starbucks icon appearing when you are near a Starbucks (in a few cities only right now) is incredibly silly too...Imagine your gas light coming on in your car in the shape of a Petro Canada logo every time you drove past one...

and imagine that taking up your entire screen so you can't what speed you're driving at, or better yet, on the windshield so it obscures your view.

What would be really cool though, is if you could program it yourself to have icons apear that you actually want. Like a Tim Hortons to appear, or a safeway, esso etc. That would be really cool!

So are you saying that here in Vancouver, where starbucks is on every corner, my ipod would pretty much display a starbucks logo constantly? I don't think I'd be able to stand that.

The starbucks thing is gimmicky, but it's a forshadow of the future of Apple's plans and mobile devices in general I think.
Soon I bet you'll be able to pay for your coffee through your iPhone and iTunes store. Location enabling shopping and advertising is going to be huge (for better or worse).
Along the advertising in Minority Report.

It's worse than gimmicky, IMHO...It's not optional at all; it's not an application you can add or remove from the device, and it'll get updated however Apple see's fit every time they release a firmware update for the thing. I wonder how long it'll be before other companies get in bed with Apple, and other icons start "appearing" on your MP3 player. A part of me worries about it getting hacked - the thing is obviously actively looking for WiFi hotspots with certain characteristics every time Wifi is turned on. I guess getting hacked isn't the end of the world, but still. It's unsolicited behavior in the device that bugs me.
That said, the new iPod Classics and Nano's are genious, and really represent the best of breed in media players, in my opinion. I bought a 160 GB Classic, and it's great - 40 hours of battery life, incredible amount of space for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, etc, beautiful screens, and nice metal cases.
Whether you like the Touch or not, you've got to admit, it must suck trying to compete with Apple's lineup!

Do you not have them on every corner? My little neighbourhood of Sydney River has 3 across the street from each other.

When your connected to wifi in a starbucks and extra icon appears beside the music button. From there you can see what song is currently playing and buy it and stuff like that. Kinda cool if your at starbucks lots but nothing special

What?? I was in the states and was checking out prices in California for iPods and they are the exact same as what I purchased mine for in Canada (that really pissed me off because I thought they would be lower).

Ok bad example. But I think you know what Im getting at. Golf courses, blockbusters, subway, etc etc, just program it yourself to whatever you want to appear.
