Hmmm, I just priced it out and came up with $736 all in. Did you add anything else?

For example; for the average home user I would say the 120 GB drive is enough; and the 160 GB drive is overkill. Unless you are into downloading movies, etc.

Yeah, more RAM the better.

Sometimes it's cheaper to upgrade the RAM separately. Just don't do it with Apple. You either buy their RAM or you void the Apple Care Warranty (I think).

Get the 9 cell battery too. Nothing wrong with AMD processors. My last 7 Cpus have been AMD.

Gateways don't have a very good reliability record. Plus this is refurbished. Great specs for the price but you might have to get that extended warranty.

With notebook computers steer away from AMD and find an Intel machine. Intel gives much better battery life (as as a result, they are generally cooler).

There's this if you feel like something even cheaper, looks like it should suit your needs fine:

Or this for 2GB of RAM

Build and quality of the Acers is still wildly variable. Still kind of soured on the limitations of warranty that Acer tries to impose, and even then you don't get a real Windows CD like you do with Dell. (May have changed, but the last couple of batches, not a windows install disk but back up cd's of the OS) Also with acer, there's a nag to have 4 cd's or a DVD ready so that the back up program can back up the OS. While image based restoration is handy, it is no replacement for having the disks etc.
