				 New Radiohead album costs $whateveryouwant!

Stuff like this makes me think there is hope beyond the RIAA / CRIAhttp://www.cbc.ca/arts/music/story/2...album-new.html

It's up to the artists to put the nails in the recording industry's archaic viewpoint.
 Good work Radiohead!

Jane Siberry has been doing this for a while. link
(and no, she isn't in the same class as Radiohead, but it is nice to see this idea isn't isolated)

I don't even really like radiohead that much, but I might just buy the album just because of what they are doing. And stick it to RIAA.

This kinda makes me want to buy their album. I feel bad for bands, because they seem to get such a small profit from all the work they do for a CD. Plus I would love to see this album do exceptionally well because of this. It would be a good in "your face moment" to the executives of the recording industry.

What amount are you guys paying for the CD?

It would be interesting to see this as an anonymous poll of how many on here would take the album for free vs actually paying for it (perhaps with some range of options as to price range willing to pay).

I think we will be suprised by how much money they actually make off this idea. Personally I probably throw like 5 bucks up for this CD online, whereas if this was a normal CD I would just torrent it. This coming from a guy who doesnt even have any other Radiohead cds.

I'll probably download the album for free. If its good, I'll probably buy the album to get all the artwork.

If the money goes directly to Radiohead, I would happily pay the equivalent of $15-$20 for the album. Good for them for trying this out.
I'm probably going to buy the fancy box set thing though.

I would pay 10 bucks. That's a hell of a lot more than what they would make off a CD.

Wow..interesting move. Personally I'm just thrilled that a new Radiohead album is that close to release. I will download it for like $5 and then buy the physical edition when it is released.

I'll buy the CD itself when it comes out in December, so I'm not going to feel too guilty when I don't pay anything to download it off the 'net in a few days. I just don't want to wait to listen to it.
I have every one of their albums......I'll pick it up in December for sure.

I think I will get the discbox set. I have all the other albums on both CD and Vynil, so it would be silly to not get this one.
Radiohead is one band I will never have a problem paying for. Their music is priceless to me.

Am I the only one who often buys things that I usually wouldn't buy unless I download it pirated first? I downloaded Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 1.. Watched it, loved it... a couple days later I bought the entire Series, season 1-5 and it knocked me back $200.. If I didn't download it for free I would have NEVER bought it.
 Sorry for the OT
