A pickaxe?
Thats a rough way to go....
The worst thing is, they didnt say why. Why on earth would kids go at another kid with a pickaxe? Okay, weapon of opportunity, but what did the other kid do to deserve that?

When I saw the title I thought it was about something that happened in New York's Queensland, not Calgary's! I sware this city keeps getting worse by the day.

That's two blocks from where I lived for 16 years before moving to Evergreen. That's friggin' crazy. Queensland was always such a good neighbourhood.
A friggin' pickaxe... To the face... Jesus...

You're right. Kids, they're clingy, needy and not good at anything. And they always seem to want something from you, who needs 'em.
Now that you mention it, I'm bringing a pickaxe to the next soccer practice I coach. "Win or else!"

Queensland is pretty sketchy. My buddies girlfriend got mugged one night when she was walking home.

Always?
How about the strip mall being torched twice. Or peoples cars parked in the alley being torched.

That's just a few blocks away from where a few of my friends live, too, and not very far from where that crazy knife-wielding guy got shot by the Police a few years back.
Sad to hear.

What the hell..that's crazy. I can just picture the middle class thugs who were involved in this. Pretty sick.

It is a ways from Canyon Meadows. Just north of Deer Run/Deer Ridge. Down around where Fish Creek and the Bow meet.

I thought the whole area down there was Canyon Meadows, I guess it's just Canyon Meadows Drive that just runs along south of there.

My favourite pizza place went up in smoke after the second torching. That and I lived in the duplex across the alley from the strip mall. Noting like getting roused out of bed in the middle of the night and the fire department telling you to evacuate cause the propane tanks in the pizza place might blow. Moved soon after that.

Jesus Christ.
So the brother of my girlfriend's friend was at that party, and it happened two houses down from my friend's house.

Crazy. I didn't know him personally, but the teen who was killed was good friends with a few of my friends.
How anyone could even do such a thing is beyond my comprehension. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
I don't quite understand why they would preform an autopsy, though. I mean, it seems pretty obvious to me why he died. Is it just for formality's sake?

I lived in the 300 block, the cul-de-sac just through the alley by the hockey rink behind the community center. I miss being able to hear the skates on the ice and pucks hitting the boards from my bedroom window when kids were playing hockey at night.
I loved that community. It's really sad to see what's become of it when I go visit my mom and sis. All the houses looking scummy with unmowed, weedy lawns and christmas lights still up in the middle of June, dilapidated fences barely supporting themselves.
