A Four Week Hangover? (shudder)
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/07092...l_beer_offbeat
When a 37-year old man walked into a hospital emergency room in Glasgow, Scotland last October complaining of "wavy" vision and a non-stop headache that had lasted four weeks, doctors were at first stumped...
...That is when the man revealed he had consumed some 60 pints -- roughly 35 litres -- of beer over a four day period, following a domestic crisis.
What a wussy. That's only 15 beer a day. He got a hell of a punishment for it. One day of hangover is bad enough, if I got a 3 day hangover it would be enough for me to hang up my drinking gear for good. I coudln't imagine feeling that way for a month.

1 pint every 96 minutes for 4 days. That is a pretty good pace.

I imagine the guy had to sleep/pass out a little bit, so while conscious he would have been going at a better clip.
Maybe I should retract my statement about him being a wuss...but when I give er, 15 beers is the afternoon, not a full day. I've never done it back-to-back-to-back-to-back.

I went on a 20+ day bender in Australia when I was 21 (with another poster here who will remain un-named). The last day of the bender I woke up shaking so badly, and feeling like such a degenerate I couldn't eat or sleep. I think it was my body's way of telling me that if I took another drink I was going to regurgitate my liver. Keep in mind it wasn't one of things where we drank every day....we got SMASHED every night.
To this day I still don't know how we did it. It only took about 2 or 3 days to recover though.

I had a similar experience Tron. After a breakup when I was about 22 I went on a three week bender. The only nights I wasnt drunk were the two Sundays. I ended up being in such bad shape that I split my head open on the underside of a bridge in Osoyoos. Thats all a pretty long story but anyway, I know what if feels like to have the shakes and general lack of health. Ugh, not something I could ever do again (or would want to).

Four week hangover?
Worst I've ever had was 3 days, this guy should go pro.
This makes me wonder though, how much abuse can the human liver take? I mean, this guy really heaped it on, there are a few instances I can think of where his drinking pace would have his BAC at near lethal levels.

Having done far too much drinking in my past, and far too much dammage to my liver, I've become awfully familiar with the multi-day hangover. It's horrible, but towards the end of when I was drinking much more frequently the 5 day hangover was my worst enemy.
Oh the horrors of living beyond your bodies means...

15 beer a day is no big deal ... I've done that lots of times camping and fishing for four or five days straight. So that made me check the math. According to my math, 35 litres equals 35000 millilitres. Divide that by 341 ml (the volume of a beer bottle) and it works out to just over 100 standard bottles of beer, or a little over 24 bottles per day. Now that is a prodigious amount. 15 bottles a day, with enough grub, is no big deal, but 24 bottles a day is another story!

The remarkable thing about this is that after a certain number of beers you sort of become full and bloated. So you have to constantly pee, belch and make "space" for more beer to enter in. That's no so easy when you're like a baloon, and you've been like one for a while...
If it was another beverage, like vodka, where he would do shots in equivalent proportion in terms of pure alcohol consumated it would probably have been easier because the bloated/balooney feeling probably won't be there.

OK, that makes more sense 24 per day for 5 days is impressive. If it was 15 a day for 5 days, I gladly volunteer to be a guinea pig if CP buys the beer.

that's good math.
the fluids alone make it challenging...so i guess alcohol amount doesn't matter as much.
i was trying to remember extended bevvie sessions that i've been on...
the one that i remember (hehheh) was on a downhill riders ski trip. i started to hang over like the 3rd day in...and badly. cure? ibuprofen and more beers. i blame the altitude and the lack of sleep...or so i say. hehheh
btw, regarding alcohol abuse...i just watched the football factory and its pretty funny. rated R for many bad habits depicted in the film. it was great!
