The Office season premiere

Aired tonight. I'm curious to know what people thought of it.

Personally I loved it. Favorite part: Creed's interrogation of Merideth asking her what painkillers she was on.

It had it's moments.. A lot of the first half of the episode was full of the pure awkwardness of the first season in my opinion.

I'll have to watch it again.

Pam just didn't seem like Pam. Not sure why, but it seemed a little off. Not the best episode I thought.

I was really torn on this episode, it definitely had its moments. I found it kind of choppy right at the beginning, but near the end everything started to come together. I love Dwight's character, he would be so awkward to work with.

I've never watched this show before but I checked it out for the first time tonight and thought most of it was hilarious.

"she probably just threw herself in front of the car on purpose to get the workers comp"

"I know if I was hit by a car it wouldn't break my pelvis"

and the part where "Michael" was talking about the head of a money and the body of a porcupine as he kept going on about that.

I was kinda meh about it, but had been waiting for it all summer. It was getting pretty ridiculous around the half way point and I ended up only half watching the second half. It seemed more sitcomy to me compared to seasons before.

I thought it was ok.....nothing great. I think one of the problems was that it is usually 30mins and this one was 1 hour so it might have felt like it was dragging on....I don't know.

I thought that it was great! So many great lines and a twisted story line all in one package!

Other than the superstitious line above, my fave was also "What does the bible say about forgiveness? It says its beside godliness."

It was a decent episode. Tough for Greg Daniels to go 3 seasons with only 2 hour episodes and then have to right a season preimere one, but thought he did a decent job. Still a lot of funny lines from the show

"As a farmer, I know that when an animal is sick, sometimes the right thing to do, is to put it out of its misery. With the electricity we're keeping Meredith alive, we could power a small fan for two days. You tell me what's unethical."

"It happened this morning in the parking lot. I took her to the hospital. And the doctors tried to save her, life, they did the best they could. And she is going to be ok"

It was a not bad episode. Seemed a little thin to keep everything going for the full hour, but still had some good laughs.

One thing I do fear, is that when funny shows start focusing on relationships, it means they are running out of jokes (Friends). It happens to most sitcoms, unless they bow out before that happens (Seinfeld).

I thought the focus on Jim/Pam was pretty normal to seasons past if not a little less last night

I thought it was a bit weak but there were still some shining moments.

When Toby gets to the end of the run -
"Where are we?"
"A few Km from the office"
"couldn't we have run in a, you know, circle"

Kevin always makes me laugh - him running in his work clothes.

I didn't like that the camera was more of a character in this episode. When has it actively followed a character, then slowed down to catch them? Previously it was always there and, other than when speaking to it, was only occasionally noticed. This episode it just seemed - different.

But earlier I thought the focus was there, but the emphasis was still on the laughs. More recently the the focus on the relationships it still there, but it's not funny.

As a big fan of this show I must say I was rather disappointed with this episode, it seemed some what hollow, It felt like I just kept on waiting for something more…I find its slowly stating to fall into your classic sitcom with increased shock value (Pam seeing Michael’s dink, Andy’s Nipples) and less of what the show was foundationally based around just the pure awkwardness of the everyday activities that take place in an office

Also I am still a bit torn on Jim and Pam…I just don’t see how the show can continue on long term with those two being together, there relationship is the foundation of the show…I mean we spent the first season cheering on Jim than we started cheering on Pam but now we have nothing to cheer for. They can’t start fighting or have drama because than the idea of them as the perfect couple becomes skewed I just don’t see how it’s going to work

I agree. About halfway through the show I said "Is anyone actually doing any work?" They would always have the distractions and work stoppages in past seasons but last night it seemed like no one was doing anything. Pretty unrealistic, which is the opposite of the show's foundations.

The next few episodes are going to be "work" filled, Ryans launching a new website for the company to technogically advance Dunder Mifflin in his own words.

I thought the concept was okay, but it should not have been stretched over one hour. It seemed like an episode where they left in the parts that would have normally been edited out, just to fill the hour. This, in turn, gave it a watered down affect. Also, there seemed to be fewer personal interviews. Some of its best material in the past has been Dwight going on about something to the camera, which was missed.
I'd like to see how it goes after the "gotta impress" phase of a premiere. Let a storyline sink in.
I think they need to keep Michael, Pam, Jim, and Dwight as the real focus of the show, and let the others look after the third storyline.
I am glad to see Ryan leave as I thought his act was getting a bit boring. The ego-bruised Michael having to answer to 'the temp' could restore a non-sexual version of the Jan element.
Agreed on the point made about Pam and Jim and where this goes from here.
I don't think the audience wants to see these two fight (ex., Ross and Rachel) -- the best thing they can do with these two is continue that partnership they've always had, while sprinkling in romance.
They have to continue to pull pranks on Dwight and make faces at eachother when Michael says something strange.
