How Many CPers have you met?
The ultimate internet nerd question...how many other nerds have you met?
Im bored at work here and was trying to figure it out for myself...Im guessing its gotta be over 50 for sure. I dont think I would say 100, though it could be close if you count random people who've stopped me at games or whatever.
So, thats the question.

None. I think Frank the Tank lives in London, maybe one day. Or I'll come back to Calgary one day and meet a bunch. I haven't been back sine I moved 14 years ago.
On another board that I frequent, I have met about 10 people. Some from Columbus, one a Nucks fan from Calgary and a few others.

One is a friend I knew before which I lead here. The other is a co-worker who I know at least lurks here because we seem to talk about the same rumours/topics that are on the top of the new threads of the day here. I just have never had the courage to say to a co-worker 'So you seduce puppies at CP at work to eh? What's your 'nick?'

Humm I know about 6 but most I have met before I knew about CP expect for a couple (Tempory_User, CaptainCanada_80)
But there was someone using CP right beside me in my MRC computer lab about 20 minutes ago…I didn’t say anything that is an awkward conversation to start

I've heard this a coupla times from people on here. If I ever see someone using this, I'll be all over chatting that person up.

I've met lots actually. I said 11-20, but for all I know it could be more than that. I'm too lazy to count them out though.

Meh, I wouldn't look at it that way. This place is unique among internet message boards. I think the common passion we all share (or at least 90%) translates into a solid basis to begin friendships. I'm only in the 2-5 camp, but the people I'd enjoy meeting in person is much larger.
Just today in the OT forum I've read about someone's life changing summer, and another's incredibly tough decision to let his dog go. How many internet forums have members this closely knit? I'm sure there are others, but Calgarypuck is still a marvel of today's technology. There's a culture here that has been created through wires. It's pretty cool.
I've sat through too many sociology lectures.

I agree, there is nothing nerdier than introducing yourself by an internet handle.

it's easier to meet people on this board because most of us are within 50km of each other. I visit another board that I have been a member of since 01 but the members are spread out all over the world so it's tough to meet people.
