In high school "dice" was the big thing. You'd be 25c on a game. "Oooh gambling". It was banned, and then kids just played it in the washrooms.

I think they tried to ban playing cards once, too. Pretty dumb idea. I think everyone sitting inthe cafeteria playing cards is probably better for the school's image than everyone causing rucus around the neighbourhood.

Oh, and TANGENT.

I got a concussion playing tackle football in grade 6. It saddens me when I take my kid out to a play group and some over protective mom puts googles and a helmet on a kid to play floor hockey. I mean, how much damage can 10 kids aged 4 to 6 really do to each other?

If the other kid has goggles and a helmet on that means your kid can HIT HIM HARDER! The whole point of life is for kids to play and get teased and get hurt. It's called growing up.

My stories aren't as good as all of yours because girls didn't play things such as Red Ass or throwing each other off snowbanks. My injuries were simple things such running into poles, falling off my bike and tripping on steps

Default Killer Hackey

Did anyone ever play the game kiler hackey?? It was all the rage back in grade six. We got about 20 kids and as many hackey sacks as possible. Everyone started in the middle circle of th soccer field. If you could "hack" twice you were allowed to throw it at people. You hit them they were out. Once you were out you could recover stray hacky sacks and throw them at people who were in to take their spot inside. Last person left was the winner.

Yeah, but those things are far more hilarious than getting injured playing these games!

It's not that hilarious. I still have the scars!
But I'd like to think all those mishaps made me tougher. All 5'2" of me!

just called it killer Hack but it was a regular activity.

AT my school in elementary "swing wars" were a big thing. Three people would get as high as they could on the swings and then start twisting. Man did you every get some dings doing that

yeah, it's red ass

man, we were just reminising in class about this stuff today...

we used to play the lightning circle...you'd rally a volleyball and if you screwed up the rally you had to go sit in the middle. then the rest of the players could spike it at you. if they missed or you caught it, they had to sit down with you...repeat until there's 1 person left

we still have some pretty intense games of soccer and football...got into some fisticuffs last year...gym teacher just sorta pulled us apart...have a big scar on my leg from where i slide tackled on guy...it was a gooder

i remember the swing wars...got a nice scar on my elbow from an errant swing...king of the hill was always a good one.

who can forget snowball fights though? that was where it was at. they wouldn't let us ever have one so we had to be pretty covert about it.

we played a version of murderball...it was like a one weekend thing...but yeah, we were in the pool at this band camp thing (i know i know, but i had to take it in junior high) and we just got a bunch of balls and whipped them at eachother. the fun kinda ended for me when i got one directly in the face from a guy who just got drafted to the mlb...that stung

oh, and killer pong (actually we still play this)...its pingpong with pain. you miss the ball, shirt comes off and the other guy gets to spike the ball at you. eventually it just deteriorates into a pingpong ball war

Definitely played killer hack, but there was no elimination or anything, the idea was to catch it after hacking three times and throw it as hard as you could at somebody. That was basically it.

We also played football in the snow because you could just destroy each other and the snow would soften the blow. Kinda.

Red ass was awesome. Despite all my years of playing baseball, I think the height of my ball catching abilities was when I played red ass at Lake Bonavista Elementary.

I remember swing wars! Thinking back we used to stand on swings and go incredibly high! Sometimes the swing would go an entire loop around with the kid holding on for dear life. Amazed that no one got killed!

I once invented a game in grade 6 where you would have a bunch of kids climb up as high as they could on the chain link backstop.

It had to be a windy day though, because the next step was for a bunch of people on the ground to take off their jackets and hurl them at the climbing kids. The wind would catch the jacket and slam it into one of the climbers. Sometimes people would have 3 or 4 jackets wrapped around their heads.

There wasn't really a point. It was just funny.

We played the same except with the additional rule that if you caught the hackey sack when it was thrown at you, you could throw it back and elimiate the person that threw it at you (assuming he didn't catch it again, of course).
