Just a little "I hate Joe Sports" for your day.
His latest style of inserting too-long pauses at innapropriate spots in an attempt to do his best Jim Rome impression drives me up the wall. How can they let him on the radio by himself? They need someone beside him to keep him in check..

Yeah, I noticed that too. Whatever happened to his sidekick? Did he get canned?

Mike Richards doing the impression is enough. Atleast he puts effort into it and immitates the actual show. Joe Sports is just stupid.

"Sports Talk With Jock" used to always put in the dramatic pauses to rip off Jim Rome, except it's not so much dramatic as it is annoying.

I think Mike Richards is funny as hell. Those promos they run every day always crack me up (since I'm not usually awake for his show).
Fake Jim Rome is funny too.
But I did notice Sports was trying to hard today, its probably because his sidekicks are gone. It is hard to just talk to yourself for 3 hrs straight without pausing.

Dave Rowe now has a morning show on from 9-10 after Richards in the morning. I don't like how it's now called the Joe Sports Big Show, don't know why either.

And from 4-5 is now "Sportsline" with Rob Kerr.
Can't imagine how long it will last with no-one to fake laughter at Colin Smith's jokes.
That's the perfect time for Dave Rowe. When nobody tunes into him at that useless hour, he'll be gone too.
It's time for CalgaryPuck to take on the airwaves...seriously.

If you guys are indicative of the listening public, then 24 hour sports radio is in big trouble here.

Or it's in good shape because the bitching about it has gone on since day 1 and still the local sports fans listen.

They also replaced 9-10 AM Rick Lafit with "Coffee Rowe", which stars Dave Rowe for one painful hour.

I've never really like Joe Sports. It just goes to show that he's got no originality or creativity, and has to stoop to copying someone else. Rome is Rome. How long until Joe Sports starts b*tching about his old Merkur XR4Ti

The pauses are more noticeable now because previously the 30 second pause was just enough time for Rowe to add in some stupid comment that really added nothing at all to the conversation.
Now it is just empty air. Not sure if that is a step back or forward.

To add to that, I've noticed today that his annunciation (sp?) of certain words / sentences is starting to sound a lot like Jim Rome. Sad...

What I don't understand is why these guys would wnat to sound like Jim ome. His show is so annoying and Rome himself is so annoying as well. It certainly not something people should aspire to imitate.

I think Jim Rome is funny as hell, but I am a pretty sarcastic person. Truth be told, I find Rome more entertaining when he's talking about strange occurrances in the news & the email fallout that ensues.
Lots of laughs.
Joe Sports used to grind my nerves to no end. Last year when the Flames were doing so well leading up to the playoffs, I was a radio junkie. Honestly, my work suffered because I was listening to the radio all day.
Joe Sports was annoying as hell with his random interjections & ill-timed pauses. I haven't been listening to 960 lately because now that that moron Dave TAylor (with his 45 second pauses)
"(disgusting mouth click) ............... Well.......................Y'see.................. ...........Its all about the oil"
is no longer on QR afternoons, they get me from 1-3.
I can totally picture Joe's wannabe Romeism though. He was mildly guilty of it last spring, & I'm easily convinced that he is filling the airwaves with bold (but not too articulate) statements about this athlete not trying (but probably trying) or that athlete being washed up (but probably still has some fight in him).
Yeah, Joe Sports, the king of not really saying anything, but acting like he knows everything.

WEll Iagree Jim Rome is funny as hell when talking about weird occurances, but when it comes to talking sports the guy is a jerk. He is such a kiss ass it unbelieveable. I amean the guy actually believes there is such a thing as jungle karma. HE will kill an athlete for so long but once he comes on the show the guy is a "legend." He has no respectablitilty is my books and should not ever be imitated. ESPN radio is so much better especially when they had Tony Kornheisr on the books.

I think Rome is absolutely hilarious.
Anyways, I sent an email to the Fan a couple of weeks ago, just when the format started to change. They just started using this new voice to announce the weather update and traffic update and sports update, and I told them that I thought it was ######ed that they would use the voice every 20 seconds for each update. Anyways, my phone number was in my email sig, and Kelly Kirsch gave me a call to explain why they made the changes and that regardless of what I thought they were still changing. I was quite surprised to hear from him, that's for sure.
Anyways, Joe Sports is a tard. He comes off more arrogant than Bryan Hall, but when you actually listen to what he's saying, it's very hard to understand if he's actually saying anything at all.
I really like Rowe, but as a sidekick. I think he resembles every mullet headed sports fan out there that knows squat about the inside of the sport, but still loves to watch. Giving him his own hour is a big mistake, IMO.
Kerr is a great guy, and I really like his viewpoints. Richards is friggin hilarious.
Usselman, like Rowe is a good sidekick.
Lafit is completely useless, IMO. I have no idea why that guy is still on. Gawd, his voice is 3 octaves higher than any sports guy's voice should be.

I met Rowe, Kerr, and Peter Maher when I played in the Bubble Hockey tournament back in November. All were good guys...Rowe strikes me more as being a "behind the scenes" type guy.

What team did you play? I was Anaheim. First time ever playing Bubble Hockey, and I lost in the second round.
