Go to Chinook mall tonight and turn on the football game at the Telus store. If you can look past the digital artifacts, then you have your answer.

I heard it was brutal, not to mention if you ever want to go HD. Good luck!

I have Telus TV and its not that bad... I like how they have channel subscription by categories. So if you get like sports pack, you get most of the sport channels including Tsn, Sportsnet, NHL Network, Golf channel and so on...

a few Shaw employees got it sponsored by the company so they could see what kind of competition they were up against, and i'll just say that no one was worried. no HD, no PPV, no center ice, takes 5-10 seconds to change channels, you are required to have Telus internet service to get the TV (and for every TV that is on, the internet speed is halved), and there are no buttons on the box. if you lose or break the remote, you can't even turn the box on. you need to buy another remote from Telus just to use the TV
also the quality is very substandard compared to cable or satellite, as all they're doing is streaming MPEG-4 video over the internet. even if i wasn't an employee of Shaw, it's still not a service i would ever spend my money on

I too had an opportunity to see Telus TV when I was a Shaw employee, I was less than impressed. Call into Shaw and ask them to go over your needs, if you go with digital you can get theme groups as well.
On a side note did anyone else, in the Red Deer area, see the addition and removal of new HD channels? Looks like we may be getting HDNET and MCHD2. Also, I heard that Red Deer may be getting an upgrade to an all digital network. Cheap digital terminals!

Good to hear some feedback, as someone who hasnt bothered with cable for 5 years or so I've been thinking about it lately and was looking into Telus but if I am going to spend the money Shaw sounds like a much better choice.

I have Telus TV HD. It's only available to employees but it is coming, so I would assume everyone will have it available to them soon.
It does not take 5-6 seconds to change channels. The only complaint I have now is no center ice, but even Shaw just got that.

If you go with Shaw, don't buy the cheapest digital box. I made that mistake and now have all the quality problems you guys just listed for Telus.

And this is where they get you, do you still have to have Telus phone to have their internet?

The one for $99? My brother has that one, and it runs faster than both of our PVR boxes. No quality problems either.

I hate the delay in shaw digital, telus, and bell. I like to change the channels quick.

And soon Telus will be offering free TVs to sign up for their service much like they give out computers for switching to their internet. Here's a novel idea, go lay some cable and make it less suck.

PVR buffers so is naturally a tad slower.
Having recently used Bell, Shaw and Starchoice as TV providers I can say that Shaw is by far the best. I wouldnt touch Telus anything with a 10foot pole.

For the type of service SHAW provides, they shouldnt be looking down at anyone. If my building allowed Satelite dishes, I would take the hellish customer service of ExpressVu over Shaw.

We have two Telus T.V. receivers as a back up to our satellite service.
The Telus receivers suck!!! half the time the guide does not work. The picture quality is poor, no hd.
We have used the PPV and it worked.
Not very impressed with Telus T.V.

If you building allowed satellites, the way to go is FTA satellite. Free and every channel is open, ppv, sports...etc.

If you want digital TV but don't want to spend the money to buy a Shaw box and only want certain channels, Telus is the way to go. It's not the greatest quality, but it's worked for me for the last year. I'd recommend it to people who don't want to spend a lot of money to get the channels they want.

And as for the internet speed cutting in half with the number of TV's you have, that's not at all true. I have it on two TV's and I didn't notice any dropoff in internet speed at all.
I'd switch to Shaw if I watched TV alot, but if you are just watching it for hockey and football and don't want to spend a lot of money, then I'd go with Telus. If I had all the money in the world, then I'd go with someone else other than Telus and buy a good HD box.
