Mother who boarded school bus sent to jail for a year
TAMPA - Shayla Muldrow came to court with her daughter and mother pleading for mercy, arguing that she had gone aboard the school bus to protect her daughter from a bully. She couldn't deny she'd urged her daughter to quote, 'handle it', and stood back while the girls fought on the bus.
Judge John Conrad called it a difficult decision. "I believe in mercy," he said, "but I believe in justice as well, and certain lines, like schools and school buses, must not be crossed."
Muldrow, with a long series of arrests dating back to 1996, was sentenced to a year in county jail, followed by six months of probation and anger management classes. She also has to write a letter of apology to the bus driver.
