Default FS: Bus Pass, valid from Sept-end of Dec.

Not for sale anymore, no offers made, and everyone was just talking about price and other topical discussions on upass. waste of time.

As far as I know, the UPass isn't one of the optional fees. Were you able to do this? If so, where did you get the form?

Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken your only allowed to opt-out if you are already have an alternative public transit pass like the low income pass or your disabled and used the hand-bus service.

There was a debate about whether students should be able to opt out of the UPass, and as far as I remember, they charge everyone so that we can enjoy this cheaper rate. You stated that like it was fact.

Well Im at Mt Royal, and we have the same UPass as U of C. Anyways it is our option every semester if we want to opt of of the U pass, we just have to do it every single semester within about 10 days of the start date. I would assume U of C would offer the same thing.

UofC students cannot opt out of the UPass, it's already been voted on about 3 years ago.

I believe it's around $95/per semester for a Upass I could be wrong though, and Upass fee is mandatory.

Who can opt-out of the U-Pass?

The U-Pass is a mandatory fee, passed by students through a referendum in March 2005 and again in March 2007. However, there are three groups of students who may opt-out of the U-pass and receive a full refund:

Those students who are physically disabled and who take the Handi-Bus or Access Calgary instead (proof of use of Handi-Bus transit is required)

Those students who are blind and receive a CNIB bus pass (proof of CNIB bus pass is required)

Those students who are taking a directed field studies course which requires them to move from Calgary to participate in this program (proof of residency outside Calgary and proof of enrollment in the Directed Field Studies course is required)

Those who are studying abroad in an international exchange program

Senior citizens who have purchased a senior citizens' bus pass

If you do not meet the requirements of any of these categories, you cannot opt-out of the U-Pass program.

Opt-out forms can be picked up at the Copywrite or found on-line beginning Aug 15, 2007 and are due no later than
Sept 30, 2007 . Proof of eligibility must also be presented. Opt-out refunds will be mailed out after Oct 15, 2007.
