An MIT student wearing what turned out to be a fake bomb was arrested at gunpoint Friday at Logan International Airport and later claimed it was artwork and that she was there to meet her boyfriend, officials said.

Perhaps more naive. She's smart enough to get into MIT.
I don't think she'll end up going to jail or anything.
Smartest thing she did was to obey the directions of the cops and security officials. Otherwise, she could have ended up like the Brazillian man at the London Tube, who didn't realise it was the cops that were chasing him, and was gunned down

Why didn't anyone help her???? All she was doing was expressing her freedom of artistic merit... Stupid police.

The Russian and French judges gave her a 5.9 and a 6.0. The American judge was not impressed and only gave her a 5.2.

She's an EE student at MIT, she's just wearing a PCB with a bunch of flashing LEDs on it. This is no different than people who were those shirts with LEDs or those belt buckles with LEDs...it's just looking a little emore homemade.

I think law enforcement took the right steps to insure the safety of people at the airport but the arrest and subsequent charges are overzealous and ridiculous.

just goes to show, you don't need any common sense to be "smart".

This stupid broad was lucky she didn't get herself killed!

The funny part in all this is she is supposed to be quite smart. Hello! It doesn't take rocket scientist to understand that if you walk into an airport with a fake bomb you will cause a commotion.

Ah, but what's important is that SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT TERRORISTS! If they make an example of this girl, all the extremely stupid terrorists that thought about walking around with their bombs prominently displayed in full view will think again!

What a joke. As usual, overreaction rules the day. Leaving aside the question of whether making airports into tiny military enclaves actually makes flying more secure, prosecuting this girl has no discernable security benefit; the intelligence level is right up there with the guys who decided that nail scissors couldn't be brought onto a plane , presumably due to the danger of threatening manicures intimidating the flight crew into submission.
