Drew Shore drew interest at the trade deadline. I suspect we'd have to send a guy like him to get the sweet release from Raymond's contract. Would open up a roster spot too for a forward (Granlund) to solidify a spot.
Not adverse to having Raymond go down to Stockton and find his game though.

esp if that prospect has only 1 year left.
We can retain salary for this year, not the remainder of Raymond's because then it mucks up our cap space. So instead what we could do is retain salary on the prospect (or even a guy like Hiller) to the max 50%.

On the previous page of this thread heh:
> What about Raymond and Shore to someone for a 2nd or 3rd?
Sucks to lose Shore but then we get major addition by subtraction with Raymond?

Yeah I think that's what Treliving would dangle seeing as how Shore's seen the least ice-time and contribution with the NHL team out of many other returning forwards, so it'd hurt the least to lose him. But I don't think we'll be getting much back since they'd be taking on Raymond's contract too - maybe like a B-prospect or a later round pick.

If that's the best Treliving could get back, I'd rather they waive Raymond and see how good of a draft pick they could get for Shore alone.

I don't think Shore has much value. And paired with Raymond it is most certainly not worth a 2nd or 3rd IMO.

The Flames paid only what - a fourth? - for Colborne who was is the same contract situation and was a former 1st rounder. Shore might get the same.

I'd probably do Raymond-Shore for B-prospect just to get Raymond off the team. But maybe Treliving can do better wizardry than that.

Imagine how much more solidified the mantra of "Earned not Given" would be if Raymond was waived...

Why on earth would we move a desired asset like Shore just to rid ourselves of Raymond when you can simply waive him or include another prospect such as Agostino or a later pick?
Raymond could also be a serviceable 13th forward sitting in the press box until the phone starts ringing from a team with injuries??
Including Shore is terrible asset management.

I agree 100% with this. If we can't deal him, then he deserves to be waived or can sit in the press box until we have any injuries. He just doesn't bring anything at this point.
Here is hoping BT can work his magic.

Yeah but trading him gets rid of his entire cap. If shore doesn't fit on the team anyway, then maybe it works. I do like shore though. Just want Raymond and his cap hit gone.

There's no pressing need to get rid of Raymond's cap hit right now. If he's sent down to the AHL, that wipes out $950,000 of it, which is more than enough to pay whoever takes his roster spot. After this season he can still be bought out.

It's more about roster spot than cap space

Send him down to the AHL, and you've cleared the roster spot, too. Anyhow, I was replying to FBI, who was concerned about the cap hit.

Yeah I'm more concerned about the roster spot as well, but still would be nice for some wizardry to get rid of the cap hit as well.

There is no market for underperforming, fringe Nhlers that have 2 years left on a huge contract for what he provides.
You can easily get 10 goal/year guys on ELC that are hungry looking for an opportunity, Raymond at best is going to play a third or fourth line role on 10/30 teams in the league.
We are stuck with him, waive him or buy him out.

you guys are living in a fantasy world if you think Raymond can be traded. Just look at all the similar players on PTO's around the league who can be had for $700k.
Why would anyone want a guy signed for 2 more years at a horrible salary?
I suppose if Flames are paying for about 2/3rds of the salary some one might be interested.
I don't really think Shore has much value either...maybe a low draft pick.
Treliving has been a great GM so far, but he laid an egg with that signing, hopefully he can admit it and send Raymond down and/or get rid of him as soon as possible.
