what the heck is going on with the radio?
Why am I suddenly listening to some clown call into a US based show to wax poetically about the Fernandez accident and boating education?

Career call up? No, but the constant slotting of Ferland into the top 6 fw group is equally as ridiculous. I agree with MMF, Ferland is a 4th liner and on his great nights, a solid 3rd line option if a spot was in dire need to be filled.

I didn't say he was useless but ai think he's better suited as an energy player. He's been giving lot's of opportunity and he does show flashes vut is lacking in consistency. But hey i've been wrong before.

I actually liked the look of Ferland with Backlund and Frolik last year. I mean, anyone you pair with those two is probably going to come out looking half decent, but I still thought Ferly was a good compliment to those two.

Lol that's heavy praise for a guy who hasn't scored more than 8 goals since 2011, in any league.

Ferland is as inconsistent as they come. Nice to have on your fourth line but wouldn't want him near the top 9 consistently.

I like Ferland with Bennett and Brouwer this year.

If Ferland and Bennett can get over their snake bites together that is a dangerous line

I hope people don't expect Jankowski to play on the 4th line in the NHL instead of the 1st line in the AHL. Not going to happen.

Guy with only one full season is inconsistent?

I am shocked.

Bouma is much noticble this game though. It will be intersting to see if Mr Ferly can string together some consistency.

I dunno.. I liked 16 goal, PK and shot blocking Bouma better than Ferland at any point.

Rittich to take over in the third.

Pretty good first 2 periods each for Johnson and Elliott. Both are still perfect on the preseason.

I feel like Ferland was there for a lack of a better option. This year there's chances for better options. If Ferland could be consistent enough to come even 3/4 as close to what he was in the Van series, my mind would change.

Fun Fact:

Yes, yes it's only preseason, and one game each but I like this stat.

2015-16 Average Save % for "Starters"
0.892%

2016-17 Average Save % for Starters
1.000

Lots? He averaged 12:37 of ice time last year. That's fourth line minutes.

Has he been given some opportunities yes and the results were a mixed bag. Some good, some bad.

I think everyone agrees he's lacking consistency offensively as a goal scorer. Overall though he gives us way more positive shifts than not, and he has the skill to be more consistent offensively someday.

Grossmann is back, so he must have cleared the concussion protocol.

Maybe I am blind too, and many others that I know.

Until Ferland does something its hard to leap praise on him. Can it happen? Sure, yet seems less and less likely.

Hey I want to be wrong, I really want to be wrong. 29 times out of 30 a player like Ferland, is what he is.

Effort should never be incosistent. Don't care how much experience you have.
