Listening to Treliving talking about Jagr helping Sam but I hope Jagr plays with Gaudreau. Maybe all three of them play together but if 13-23-68 become a line it could help the team more.
Bennett gets the shaft again in that scenario.

I don't see it that way. Yea it might help having Jagr play some mins with Gaudreau but I think Bennett's style is better suited to get tutored directly from Jagr. I honestly think this org sees Bennett as having perhaps the most potential of any player on this roster, at least in terms of an all-around game.

This is the way that all Brouwer interviews should start now. This made me spit up a little when I read it

I thought the Brouwer interview was fine. Of course the Flames brought Jagr in to produce (among other things). Says that he (speaking about himself - Brouwer) needs to tighten-up defensively and produce as well. Nothing wrong with what he said at all.

Yes this is exactly what he says. He realizes he's the guy that gets bumped down for Jagr, because of what Jagr can do.

Is there a place that posters can go collectively to bitch about Troy Brouwer? It is abundantly clear to everyone that he does not look good in this lineup, and of course this is a source of frustration for everyone. But why must all of us have to wade through page after page of the same complaints parroted over and over again, and then supplemented by anecdotal fabrications that have nothing to do with his on-ice performance?
It is beyond tiresome. Seriously. Start a "transgressions" thread and leave it there.

What's the opposite of "frickin"?
Troy "Goddamn" Brouwer?

Thanks for the clarification -- I just thought it was odd because Jagr will hopefully do the very job that Brouwer was supposed to do (add veteran scoring presence and leadership on the right side). Good to hear that he acknowledges his "new" role on the fourth line and that he'll need to play better on both sides of the ice (but especially as a defender).

Textcritic was very clear on this....
Troy "Transgressions" Brouwer
Now back on topic - I like Jagr on Bennett's line to start anyways. First few games I suspect it will be a bit of Jagr & Brouwer both taking shifts as Jagr's minutes slowly rise.

Why not? It's a forum and individual posters are giving their opinion.
Should we not state opinions because other posters have already?
When you were repeating that Mcdavid was nothing special a few seasons ago and as silly as that was at the time you still had the right to say it.

The only baffling part of that interview was when he said they tried to carry the puck into the zone too often.

Ehh, I was responding to something Brouwer said in a video that was JUST posted - and it speaks to my general opinion of him as a player. I think Brouwer commenting on another player's worth to the team to be comical, because as you indicate, he has so woefully under-delivered on living up to the expectations placed on him.
Versteeg's interview on the other hand exuded excitement and was complimentary of his new teammate...while Brouwer just spoke of expectation. It bugged me.

I kinda think at some point Tkachuk with Bennett and Jagr would make a lot of sense and I hope to see that combo at some point.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Jankowski - Backlund - Frolik
Tkachuk - Bennett - Jagr
Versteeg - Stajan - Brouwer
Glass, Lazar

Brouwer was asked a question about probably playing on the fourth line and he said Jagr ahould play top 9 because he's expected to be a scorer. What exactly is the issue?
Remember, Brouwer did not sign Troy Brouwer to 4.5 Million x 4 Years. And Brouwer does not assign himself to make the Bennett line terrible.

Get Brouwer out of the line up, put Versteeg on the 4th with his PP time and have it be Jankowski - Bennett - Jagr. Stop being so rigid with wing/center GG. Guys who've learned the game at center won't forget it overnight.
Someone mentioned Jankowski spent his 1st season with the Friars at left wing, it's not going to hurt him in his rookie NHL season either.
|
I agree. But I would alternate Tkachuk and Jankowski on the LW with Bennett and Jagr this season. Tkachuk needs to tutelage in cycling too. When one is not playing with Bennett/Jagr they play with Backlund/Frolik to master the checking role.
Only our younger players should play with Jagr.

Time and place. Troy Brouwer has absolutely nothing to do about Jagr's first practice

In all seriousness, I can see Brouwer seeing a correction in his stats to be closer to his career norms. Last year should be the outlier.

Now that he is on the 4th line his numbers wont come near his usual 40 points.
A buyout at end of the season seems almost certain now barring some miracle we find someone to trade him too.
My biggest concern with Brouwer is that the 4th line is supposed to bring energy. I cant see that happening with Brouwer.
