He's not part of the team.
And even more important than poker is getting back to Kingston and getting ready to play.

Brian Burke, when I chatted with him briefly today, agrees.

Also mentioned he understands Sam's gained 14 pounds since the draft.

I think you have to play a game as a Flame to be on the team.

I'm really excited to see what a bigger, stronger Bennet will do in the OHL with two good shoulders. I expect him to dominate.

Sam Bennett has some kind of edge about him, with him and Monahan down the middle this team is set at center for many years.

Kingston walked into Oshawa and beat the # 1 ranked junior team in Canada the Oshawa General 5-4. This was only the 4th loss of the year for the Generals at home.

Bennett is so good he didn't even have to play. Just having him around makes Kingston better.

Flames get beat 6-3 at home without Bennett watching.

Why wouldn't Sam have been watching? He was still in Calgary yesterday morning to talk to the press.

Im very impressed with the Flames. I thought for sure Bennet would go to the AHL for a conditioning stint. Going back to Kingston was the smartest decision that could have been made. He will play, and get his game going again, with less risk of re-injury than either the AHL or NHL. Good move.

Absolutely.
Plus there is still a possibility he could see action with the Flames yet this year, after his Junior season ends.
This is his conditioning stint, exactly where it should be - in Kingston.

But can he do a pull up?

I was hoping to see him for a few games but now that I think about it this is the right move. He just got off injury, didn't have much (any?) of a training camp. You don't throw him at the wolves like that. Let him get back in the groove again first.

Monahan Gaudreau Gio, Colbourne and Russell all due for huge increases in 2016. This moves Bennett back to 2018.

Will be interesting how Hartley manages a team (2016) that has money in the bank with more Glencross financial security and less entry level guys.
I'd hope that we keep drafting and developing good young players, otherwise we'll be right back where we started. In a salary cap league, it's hard to win a cup without good entry-level players.

As for this move, if Kingston can be in the playoff race while subtracting their best player, I'd imagine they have pretty solid depth. Sam and the Frontenacs could go on a nice run. He's in an interesting situation having been with the Flames this long. If he goes down there and works like a pro, he's gonna put a hurt on some kids.

I really don't think cards is on the organizations radar at this point when it comes to Bennett. Its far more important for him to get out to Kingston, practice with the team and be ready to play in a couple of days.

It seems like a lot of people are forgetting how serious of an injury he is coming off of. Its no guarantee that he's going to be himself until he's seen significant time on the ice again. This is exactly why you don't screw around and and get the kid to a place where he's comfortable and can play the most minutes this year.

I keep looking back to how good he was in his first preseason game, with a bum shoulder to boot.

I cannot wait to see this kid suit up for the Flames. Hope he goes back to Kingston with the aim of proving to management that they made a mistake sending him down.

That being said, it was the right choice sending him back.

Kingston plays this afternoon. Not enough time to talk himself into the lineup. If it was a 7:00 start I'm sure he'd be playing.

It was announced yesterday that his first game back will be Wednesday
