Well that depends on what you're into but that might be a little too personal for CP, lol.
Plus pooping is done by babies and they are cute so I feel we're back to cigarettes being more gross, smoking in general can kill you, they are expensive as hell and people should just quit 😄

As others have noted, very few arenas these days allows this. It isn't a case of being "too cheap for security", it's a case of following norms.
But, lets flip the script anyway: Why should the Flames be expected to pay extra security to enable your addiction?

I may not be "most people", but hate is the right word. Cigarettes makes my eyes burn, cause me to cough, and I find the smell extremely unpleasant. Even the residue that sticks on a person after they smoke is awful, and it's even worse if it's the stale "hobo who smokes and doesn't wash his clothes" version. There are few things I dislike more.

Would they really be paying for extra security though? The security personnel are there from the start of the game to the end one way or another. It’s not as if they stop letting people in the building once the puck drops.

Guess I see it as the same type of complaining.
outrage over the change in their ability to smoke, comments about not going to said event/place any more, rationalization why they should the status quo should be preserved.
only difference this time is people wrongly thinking it's about pot smoking in particular.
99.9% of people will shrug their shoulders and accept they have to wait a couple of hours for a smoke.
be the people complaining about the new rules and saying they'll stop going to games sure won't turn down a ticket during a long playoff run because of not being able to run out for a puff.

Hey. Maybe the money they save with the reduction of security needed to monitor all the smokers coming and going....could be used to reduce the cost of...
I'm kidding.

And yet somehow we still allow Oilers fans to attend games. Go figure.

Guys, guys, guys! This is all about the money!
If you're outside smoking on the concourse you arent buying preposterously over-priced concessions!
They've only got you as figurative captives for 4 hours and they have to sell you as much stuff as possible within that amount of time.
All they've done now is eliminated the 'figurative' part about you being a captive.
Wait until they start tracking your movements so that once they know you've gone outside they can refuse to let you back it and then re-sell your seat!

Safety and building temperature regulation as reasons for the ban. McMahon will be unchanged.
From the Flames:
"The no re-entry policy is in line with safety best practices in venues across North America, and the Saddledome is actually now the last of all seven professional Canadian arenas to adopt this policy. Similar policies have been implemented in all major facilities across Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Winnipeg), as well venues south of the border in the United States and across the world. This policy was put in place to provide a safe atmosphere for all patrons who attend any event within the Scotiabank Saddledome. Aside from greater security and safety for everyone who works here and attends events here, the new policy will allow us to have a better handle on building temperatures during all events after eliminating the frequent exiting and entering of people to and from the building.
Our focus as an organization will be to continue to implement new ways to increase the experience and entertainment for our fans, while providing a high level of security for everyone attending the Scotiabank Saddledome.
That said, unfortunately there will no longer be a designated smoking area once you have already scanned your ticket into an event. At the current time McMahon Stadium will not be implementing this policy."

I will be in a foul mood the day they deny “re-entry” privalages at McMahon. And that has very little to do with smoking indeed.

Because I give them thousands of dollars a year and I'm very close to just buying a new TV and going to Vegas instead.
Like I could hardly give tickets away at the end of last year

One of the problems with the Saddledome is having security at the building entrance instead of having a fenced off perimeter around the building. This would allow an outdoor area past security that includes a small smoking section.
Also, for summer concerts or early and late season hockey games the outdoor area could be used for extra promotions, concessions, and toilets, reducing the over crowding in the concourse.

Treat it like alcohol. You want to smoke, you need to buy cigarettes to gain access to the smoking area.

I would say as a smoker I have no problem going without for a few hours I just don't think the experience at the dome is all that great and this is another reason to just watch from home.

Flames have emailed an update; which addresses my concern:
If, for any reason, you believe that you need to leave and re-enter the building during an event, please visit Guest Services by Section 226 on the concourse. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
Which is good. There have been times I have had to leave for one reason or another, but planned on coming back.

Sweet, now I can get tasty quesadillas without fear of being left out of the venue!

I don't smoke and I used to avoid certain areas of the concourse to avoid the smoke wafting in during intermissions, however it was a bit underhanded of the Flames to announce it on July 3, I think they should have announced it in May when STH who might have cared could have factored it into their decision to renew.

I have quit smoking for over a year now. I just want to say it is really hard and I think about smoking everyday. I know it is gross but don’t think that people can just quit because you think it is gross. It is an addiction just like drugs. Anyhow rant over
