Yes O'Reilly is way better but Arnott would cost much less in dollars and zero assets.

This is a really weird way to put it.
He obviously knows how to skate through the drills.
He obviously can't do it at an NHL level according to the New York Rangers.
Does that mean he was good enough? In my mind, it means he wasn't.
He wasn't good enough to make the Rangers, whether that is because of an injury or not, he's not good enough.

exactly. If he was good enough then he would have been on the Rangers. If it was only his knee and it's better now than you'd think he'd end up on the Rangers. And if he was only a "stop gap" and would be relegated to be the 13th forward when someone got back, than he really isn't good enough to be on the Rangers.
This is a case of the team not being good but taking the whole "if we get the 8th spot anything can happen" mentality. We're banking too much on "what if's" and not enough on what is.

Signing Arnott would be nothing more than the act of a desperate management team once again refusing to actually address the center ice position properly.
If Arnott is signed, Feaster will be doing nothing more than treading through the footprints that Darryl Sutter made years ago.

I think signing Arnott would be a bad idea but TBQH Feaster hasn't really had an opportunity to acquire a first line center though.
He drafted Jankowski but that was a long term move to address the center ice position.
He went after B.Richards with a huge offer but fell just short when Richards followed Torts to New York.
Other than that an opportunity really hasn't come up. We didn't have the assets for Carter or M.Richards, and other first line centers haven't really moved.

Even Kyle Turris, who isn't even guaranteed to be a first line center, would have cost us the 1st we used to draft Jankowski. I guess Feaster/Weisbrod liked their chances with Janko better.

Didnt Zarley Zalapski say he was lacing 'em up again? Can he play centre?

It's really weird that you don't seem to understand.
It had nothing to do with not making the team because they were willing to hand him a contract and a roster spot. But he failed the physical before he could step on the ice and he failed it because his injured knee wasn't 100% yet.
It had nothing to do with him not being good enough.

Are you sure about that?
If they thought the injury was temporary, and that he was good enough otherwise, I think they would have probably signed him.
To me, the rejection implies that they think the injury means that, because of it, he isn't good enough.
Keep in mind that the Rangers are planning to be playing until June.

Except they did sign him! Signed him pending a physical, a physical in which he failed.
They wanted someone who could play immediately because of Kreider's injury.

Remember when Jokinen had 3 points in his last 13 games ... When were in the middle of making a big push for the playoffs??

To be fair the only players that showed up down the stretch for the flames were Gio, Sarich and Stajan. $7 million Iggy had one goal in his last 11 games.

You mean when Jokinen played through an abdominal tear towards the end of the season? Yeah, I remember that....

Lol....Olli Jokinen is a sorry excuse for a centreman. The guy can't win a faceoff to save his life and has terrible puck protection and board play.
He's a perimeter player with good shooting skills. He'll put up points, but that's not enough for what he gets paid.
If you could somehow merge Jokinen and Stajan into one player, you might have a legitimate no. 1 centreman there.

So are you saying that most of the guys on the Flames can't get it done when it counts?

I'd have to agree. I've watched quite a few Jets games as they are technically my hometown team, and he has been pretty bad. Turnovers galore, puck dying on his stick, etc. He's also looked surprisingly slow and just off altogether.
