Taking away credit for scoring on a backup goalie?
C'mon man. Wheather you have scored on Antii Raanta or Corey Crawford, he still got two goals. And looking at those goals he for sure would have still scored them on Crawford.
Also have to say Giordano's got some awesome numbers this year.
25 points in 35 games and nearing 10 goals already, (which for any d-man would be considered outstanding output over a full season). He should have another too but for that horrible botched call in that one Oilers game on his beauty goal.
For me, he's an automatic emergency call up for Canada. At least he's making a hell of a case for it.

Haha! Is this your new "out"? Guess what, the Flames won't be seeing very many starters over the next few years. I guess this means that none of the points our guys score from here on out count for anything.
Edit: Raanta is also 12-2-3 with a .904 SV% and a 2.4 GAA, which includes tonight's game.

The way things are shaping up, Stajan, while proving to be our #1 C for this year, plays more of a #3 C role. Next year I imagine Backs as #1, Monahan as #2, Stajan as #3.
He has been having a phenomenal year considering expectations. Keep on fighting the... fight. Can't wait for net years sig update.

Well, first of all, your consistent position is that he isn't even an NHL player. I hope you now recognize how ridiculous that is.
As to "Scoring is the only way to be considered a 2nd line centre", the Flames as a team don't score, sitting second last in the league in goals per game.
In 05/06 they sat in a similar position. Langkow was their top scoring centre with 59 points.
Since Backlund got put permanently on a top line (28 games) he has 16 points. Pro rated that's a 50 points season.
Similar teams, similar production.

Ramo is top 30 in the league in GAA (which would put him technically in 'starter' territory in that category), and has managed to maintain a .500 record at 10-10-4, despite the team playing in front of him. I'd say he's doing a pretty commendable job considering he's been out of the league for several years. He's looking to have some promise and for that I'm glad he's signed through next year. I'm interested to see what he can do over that time.
Berra, comparably, is 6-14-2 without a regulation win and well into backup territory in terms of stats.

Man I feel good, I was dissing Jones a couple games ago and ever since, he's shut me up. Lovin his play right now. Backs is playing in beast mode right now. Love how he got in Shaw's face after Shaw hit him in the corner.

Ramo has exceeded my expectations, Berra is about what I expected. I think Hartley has managed our goalies exceptionally well.
All that said, I agree that I would like to see about 8-10 more Berra starts before I judge whether or not he should be re-signed. I don't think anybody can really be sure of what he is or what he can be yet.
Ramo responded extremely well to a long bench period with coaching, but he had had previous NHL ice experience.
I would also like a look at Joni Ortio at some point.
Indeed, but there are many more goalies that have played than teams. So I'm going by the idea that 1-30 is starter territory and 31-60 is where most backup-caliber goalies would place.
