Also worth pointing out that it was a coaches challenge, right? So if the coach is saying the ref got it wrong, why is the default view to support the ref?

Well, now the team knows that the playoffs are indeed a very....very different animal. You can have the 3 guys who have been in the dance more than anyone on your team combined tell you all about it but you really dont get it until you're in there. Guys Like Rasmus, Valimaki, Lindholm, Hanifin and Mangipane are going to benefit from this more than anyone.

Plus Backlund carries the puck much better than Monahan. He protects the puck on the rush and can gain the zone. Furthermore he actually takes the body. I wonder why he has never been tried to centre Gaudreau. I get he’s not the ideal number 1. But in a series where we need a secondary puck carrier for Johnny it would have made sense.
